went to TR boots today to measure 2 chassis Craig has but it seems these chassis were not built to exacting proportions , but would be glad of some help, Best Pete.
Being without a TR is like being a little bit undressed, am really enjoying doing the work so far. Did you know that JD who used to work in the parts Dept at Bitz had died a couple of months ago, 58 or 59. very sad John.
I did a trial test on a Vickers hardness M/C. It appears to me that the shaft was case harden( 50+VPN) and the hardness layer was not very thick maybe under 007" thick. If Moss are selling shafts that are not heat treated i.e.natural, this will be another job for Roger. I have not replaced my original shaft but it is worn.
