  2. Today I tried for the 100st time to locate the "clonk" whilst breaking. Is it possible the the rear axles (improved standard one, no CV ) makes that noise but without feeling any play?
  3. That's probably just poor maintenance, not bad construction.
  4. My large Sytec suction filter (SSF 2012) has M14x1.5 mm threaded clnnections to which different size ferrules on filter-inlet and outlet. Outlet has a banjo style ferrule to make a 90-degree turn. Waldi
  5. Thanks Monty what would be the frequency every 12K?
  6. A clean with K& N cleaner & a re-oil with K & N oil.
  7. Today
  8. That makes perfect sense. I always wondered why some tanks had this feature and others not. Is this another example of too much “cost-engineering”? Waldi

  10. I have just finished reading volume 2 of 'Ecology of souls' by Joshua Cutchin. He relates UFO phenomena to Forteana including fairies, goblins, kobolds, bigfoot etc - the whole panoply of folk lore, globally. A particular emphasis is placed upon folk-lore events around death and their strong resemblance to NDEs in hospital pts and to altered states of conciousness induced by drugs such as DMT. Highly recommended reading for the curious and open-minded: https://www.joshuacutchin.com/ecology-of-souls-two Peter

  13. Hi I have K&N oil type filters A059B6 on my TR4A carbs Just curious to know what maintenance of the filters is required thanks
  14. Glasgow is now called Pothole city by us motorists cheers Ian.
  15. I had one but it was too small.
  16. I can still rattle off a couple of constants required to covert Decca's radio frequency positioning system (Hifix 6) to the UK national grid coordinates.VP (velocity of propagation- in our case of a 2Mhz signal) 299650 kms per sec Eccentricity squared ( of the planet) 0.999601272 There were other constants required, but those I have forgotten. Bob
  17. Yes, they make the noise you describe. A new one will do wonders.
  18. Goodparts rear hubs are excellent. Mine were fitted 15 years ago. Still nice and quiet, and zero movement/wear in them. RG tells me they are rated for 400BHP. I have these hubs, with his CV joint set-up. Again, still perfect and 80k miles +, & used in anger. Cheers.
  19. My two bob's worth, and I know other experienced people I respect will disagree. The spinners need to be tight, really tight. The splines locate the wheel but the spinner is largely what holds the wheel in place under acceleration and braking. The spinner grips the cone on the wheel centre and jams the wheel tight against the inner cone or hub. My experience is that the theory behind the self-tightening is false, or best described as misleading. The spinner won't self-loosen and it will edge its way in a tightening direction, but it will not tighten itself sufficiently to hold the wh
  20. Hi Tim! As you do not live local to me where I would tell you to go Spectrum Hose who I would be certain they could sort you out. Look around your area for a hose specialist supplier. If you have any boat yards near you ask them who they use for hose and hose fittings??? Bruce.
  21. And I remember the phone numbers of our home and my father's business in Bath - and we left Bath in 1956. It helps that there were only 4 digits. Ian Cornish
  22. Triumph added the anti surge system around the fuel outlet Carb tanks do not have it, only later PI
  23. presume you were competing in the Shamrock Rally in Ireland. Phil
  24. I guess this is something that’s been added to the tank , not a Triumph fit .
  25. Gorilla glue Regards Harry
  26. Interestingly my 1970 PI does not suffer from this, I do not have a swirl pot. My friends 1969 TR6 PI has this problem too. My tank has the little ring welded to the bottom around the outlet which, I think, acts as a swirl pot. Waldi
