  2. Rob, yes thank you. I have the Autowire 4A and 250 diagrams. I tried to merge the two, and that’s how I came up with my 250 based diagram. Right now it’s more of a “flow tree”, but once the circuitry paths make sense, I’ll use as many existing connectors as I can. One thing I did notice was the 4A has the turn indicator light connected directly to the turn signal flasher (first diagram). However the 250 has the turn indicator light connected off the turn signal switch (second diagram). Not sure why the 250 moved it off the turn signal flasher, unless it had to do with the hazard switch be

  4. This is part of the Advance Autowire schematic. The oblong blocks arrowed are existing bullet connectors and are easy break-in points to the wiring. You can simplify your first drawing a bit if you use those. I don't know where they are located on a '4A though.
  5. Well here are my first attempts of trying to decipher wiring plans for adding hazard flashers to my 4A. The first picture is my attempt to merge the 4A wiring with the TR250 hazard wiring. The reason I tried this route was I figured I could buy an off the shelf 250 hazard switch and relay (and buy another flasher unit like I’m using currently for indicators). The second picture is my attempt to redraw the diode based diagram Rob provided. As I mentioned previously, I didn’t understand how the diagram Bob provided would interface with the 4A wiring, so that’s on hold. Anyway
  6. Thanks for the heads up…..I’ll ask my garage to take a peek
  7. Unfortunately today was the first time I’ve had to drive to a car show with the roof on. Capesthorne Hall Classic Car Show a few members enjoyed the day we didn’t get to wet, nice to see a good number of cars considering it had given out a wet day. Mike Redrose Group .
  8. I think that the badging on the body badges is microgamma bold extended. This is also later known as Eurostile when computers came along, but the bold extended version. The plenum is a totally different font, my first thought was Clarendon, but will have another think. Should know really as I worked in graphics and signage for 35 years. Tim
  9. Surely the pressure setting required is to satisfy the requirements of the metering unit and injectors. Shouldn't it be the same whichever pump was fitted? Mike.
  10. BEDMAS here in Canada. Brackets; Exponents; Division; Multiplication; Addition; Subtraction. If you follow that it's clear. My Mum was a maths teacher (in England) and as I remember it always taught to do multiplication (or division) before addition (or subtraction).
  11. Thanks rob, Very useful particularly seeing the internal workings.
  12. Richard, didn’t realise there’s a difference but we’ve only been back to ownership ~2yrs. I’m sure with the wealth of folks here someone knows!
  13. wow that's bargin for £1250 i like you have enough though David
  14. That was what I thought that or a loose pulley. I would remove the fan belt and run the engine for a very short period to see it the sound is still there. could it also be the exhaust rattling against the chassis, higher engine speed causing the engine to lean on the worn rubber mounts moving the exhaust away from the chassis (ask how I know this is possible)
  15. I have already posted this on selected Facebook pages and thought I really should put it on here too. Its only taken me 39 years of Peerless ownership to realise I cannot keep paying storage for cars I am not going to get to..... Peerless GT phase 1 for total restoration, 95% complete. Body has been re-assembled onto the chassis. The body does have some damage but there are repair panels to go with it. Chassis is straight but would either need a lot of work or replacement, this I can help with (by separate negotiation) . All engine/gearbox/suspension in attendance. Seats ha
  16. I've playing with making a tool for three ear'd knock ons so I can us a bar of some description. When I first started this project (about 10 years ago) there was nothing on the market for these however, now there is ( I went googling) BUT they seem to be very expensive. This is what I have so far. The steel disc with three pins is interchangeable (O/S - N/S) into the wooden tool. On the other side is a 1/2" socket welded on to use with a breaker bar. The little ali toggle (one either side) hooks behind the spinner to stop the tool "peeling off" under load. This could be better,
  17. Original cover chromed. On the popping out of 3rd gear on overrun check the gearstick gaiter isn't getting trapped when the gearstick is pushed forward, it can prevent full engagement and come out under pressure. Easy check is to remove the gearstick gaiter and just drive it, if it doesn't jump out that's the problem, then just refit the gaiter better maybe a little more trimming might do the job. The Jamaican steel band under your rockers needs quieting to allow the diagnosis of which knock is what, Rogers correct, remove the chrome cover and inspect the rocker shaft for excess wear
  18. Yes 3a's were chrome, sounds expensive, broken crankshaft?

    Mr

I use Fernox Alphi-11 antifreeze -checked with Fernox & it’s corrosion inhibitor has a 5 year life so doesn’t need a change every 2 years - & as Andy says above - “ Fernox advised me as long as the coolant looks clean all you need is to add a dose of their F1 inhibitor every 5 years - so again don’t need a full coolant change - a £15 bottle of F1 from screwfix treats 130 litres so a bottle will outlast your ownership.
  20. When you get it sorted it would be interesting to see a list of what a complete touring kit should consist of Andy
  21. +1. I discovered that my through the core fixings were damaging the core before they did real damage. I welded a proper fixings to the outer frame. Rgds Ian
  22. By the way, in the video, does my rocker box look original? Were they chrome as standard.
  23. Thanks I like those two suggestions - easy to fix.
  24. Thanks for that Steve, but the font used on the intake plenum/manifold is something different. It's big deal to me really, I'm asking on behalf of someone else and I don't think it matters much, so we may just go with the font you suggest. Richard.
  25. If it’s anything like mine it’s the bonnet stay
  26. Just back from Crete - alas not in the TR. I guess the plastic bag wasn’t big enough! james
  27. Well not actually today, but just got back 2 days ago, from a 10 day stay in Corsica, 2020 miles from home and back, and 720 miles in Corsica. total fuel consumption for the hole trip has worked out at 29mpg!! Think I have the MU set right now! It was an organised trip by a French company, Troisieme Horizon, we where 19 cars, only my TR5, an MGA, and other moderns Porches, a Ferrari, Alpine an old and a new, Mercedes, and of course a 2CV! If you want a driving road that beats the Stelvio this is the place! This company has many trips for the year, worth looking at. John
