  1. Past hour
  2. That’s really interesting and with a different adjustment I‘m ready for a test drive
  3. Today
  4. That’s interesting
  5. Thanks David. Mick Richards
  6. Yes its a Limousine engine, loads of torque will pull away in top gear. Stuart.
  7. Only drove Brenda out of the garage today to give it a good wash and clean inside ready for tomorrows Cheshire Candles Charity Car Run with the MG club. Mike Redrose Group.
  8. What is the best way of removing a prop shaft from a 250 with overdrive?
  9. Hmm that’s interesting. On my 4A the clutch and brake pedal, (even the accelerator pedal), are all the same height. Jim
  10. I always think it's the availability of glass that can make a car worth restoring or not. If one of those back quarter glass bits get smashed I doubt if you could ever get another. (It says there is a spare piece in the boot, but bound to be the wrong side if one was ever broken.) I noticed it sold at auction on 27 April for £1,744 . Someone hoping to make a quick profit. Charlie
  11. Do you know about the 5.4 liter 6 cylinder engine? Should I make him an offer?
  12. That model is pretty rare now (Only 193 of the R version built) great long distance tourer though slightly thirsty. Stuart.
  13. Mick, Different sets of FIA homologation papers haver a different answer to your question. Perhaps the answer is 42s until they became unavailable, and 45s were used. Papers under FIA recognition number 98 show the option of 42 DCOE carbs. Papers under FIA recognition number 133 show the option of 45 DCOE carbs. David
  14. Good luck with finding parts for that to whoever buys it. Rgds Ian
  15. You are right Ian, the SUs give plenty of go up to the 5000 area, and of course you need some clear roads (or significantly higher ratio rear axle) to want to be cruising at 5000 revs or more. Do you know, did the factory fit the then current Weber 42s or did they go to 45s ? Mick Richards
  16. It may occur again tonight, which would be good as I missed it completely. The giant sunspot that generated the CME that produced this southerly Northern Lights display as exploded again this morning (11/5). If that produces another CME then our skies could light up again tonight.
  17. Well there's a get out clause if there ever was! White is not a colour. It is a mixture of light of all visible wavelengths. Anyway, our eyes can't detect all the wavelengths in that range equally. John
  18. Thanks for the reply
  19. Yes, on my 4A the clutch pedal is about 50 mm highter than the brake pedal. I never noticed this being a problem, the acceleration pedal is also different. Yes, the stop is the end of the pedal with the U-fork against the carrier, pulled by a spring in the foodwell. More adjustment OUT is not possible, more IN is possible with an adjustable push rod with mushroom head, adjusting it shorter the clip and washer in the master cylinder is the stop. I hope this helps, Ciao, Marco
  20. Is seems that may apply only to Halogen lamps in the UK. HID can be up to 6000K and the legislation doesn't seem to have caught up with LEDs. The EU regulations go into great detail about beam shape and luminous intensity but the bit about colour just says: 7. COLOUR 7.1. The colour of the light emitted shall be white. https://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/?uri=CELEX%3A42014X0614(02)
  21. 5000 will do me ! Bob
  22. It is the Arora Borealis. Here it is in West Drayton, Greater London.

HS6 carbs are fine to 5000, but if you want to go higher, then Webers are the answer. Which is why the Comps Dept made the change on the Works' TR4s later in 1962. Ian Cornish
  24. I fitted an adjustable pushrod (from Revington) to my TR4 as, with my short legs, I found there was too much of the initial depression of the pedal was wasted because it achieved nothing. However, this did not change the position of the clutch pedal, with respect to the brake pedal, when both are at rest. Ian Cornish
  25. There was a recent large coronal mass ejection from the sun and the aurora prediction for yesterday covered down to the south of England with about a 20% chance. That was probably the 'northern lights' . Not predicted for the UK today though. \https://www.swpc.noaa.gov
  26. See my post from November 2015. which initiated this Topic - the Office should have copies. If not, why not ? Ian Cornish
