harlequin
We need more people like Doreen putting things into perspective. The world has gone mad, we have a certain president travelling halfway round the world in a private jumbo jet with a staff of hundreds, helicopters, fleets of limousines to lecture the likes of you and me on climate change, and then the silly old bugger falls asleep in the middle of it. The inmates have truly taken over the asylum George

Mick Forey
Very funny but sadly some people will start to believe it. Her first statement is totally incorrect, temperatures continue to rise, so its still global warming (natural or man-made is a different subject). No inconvenient graphs here: https://www.climate.gov/news-features/understanding-climate/climate-change-global-temperature Sorry to be boring, it was still funny. RogerH
Hi Mick, there is no way that any credible person could suggest that daft Doreen is stating anything but satirical p*ss taking. Roger
RobH
Mick - you should be happy that we are still recovering from the ghastly conditions of the Little Ice Age. Who knows, one day we may return to the balmy conditions that were prevalent during the Roman and Mediaeval Warm Periods - you know, the time when the Vikings could farm in Greenland. Personally I welcome anything that attacks the wall-to-wall propaganda and outright idiocy we are currently subjected to. Greta after a week in Glasgow ? Mick Forey
Roger, I agree no credible person would. However, the success of Boaty Mc Boat Face, anti-vaccers, conspiracy theorists and the like have convinced me that such twaddle on social media is taken very seriously by a large proportion of the population. RobH
Climate zealots really don't like the GWPF, so shooting the messenger will probably commence in 5---4----3---2---1 Not quite as funny as Doreen but it does present the unarguable basic facts. All those things that the zealots don't want to talk about or believe can be overcome by those mythical grid-scale batteries plus a lot of hand-waving. All to make "three tenths of b****r-all " change to something which really isn't a problem anyway.
Peter Cobbold
The science of GW by CO2 and methane is sound: https://news.climate.columbia.edu/2021/02/25/carbon-dioxide-cause-global-warming/ We are part of a planet-wide experiment that has unpredictable impacts upon our habitat. JohnG
Has anyone considered the view given in "The Hockey Stick Illusion"? A real insight into the failings of a huge proportion of the 'fact' being pushed into the open, all based on the fallacy of the data used for the climate change hockey stick graph. NO, I don't understand a lot of it, but, I understand enough to know that all those using the climate change hockey stick graph as the basis for 'the human race is killing us' are labouring under a misapprehension. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/The-Hockey-Stick-Illusion-Climategate-and-the-Corru-by-A-W-Montford-Paperback/302373302695?epid=88443532&hash=item4666da71a7:g:atEAAOSw6Xdh9aMc&amdata=enc:AQAHAAAA8ENYTTVsTFHoXNmp+YZ8KNPSNDWe809QaEPnx2GCziZPCyS391Jxf9UBxAYEm75KqDVeZi1dU0ovFCmQ6+Iytsfi1OWQaofNxvtA8IuLlu1iFI9GddrDjWZSJInVRmWAngifFSBuaL9Si+NI1feGvVzEP/Q9H9mcKx3nbcC9ZhQEoke0rLeq4i0JP7ZiNL9H0cAFejodMDDOUGINC/5MJcDdJX0m0/+AYjyQDNZP7AJgOb4cWF8tLEkiH2Ybob0Ge/abmnUOPMU9E3FC0xgkqeKDVZtIkWdq/InFcmSCYa6aObD74rYsXKXlIUTNWZW2BQ==|tkp:Bk9SR_Ln6Ky2YQ&pageci=0063c474-6f7b-4afe-81ac-205dfc3faadb&redirect=mobile Or get it from your local library
Peter Cobbold
There is absolutely no doubt that CO2 level in atmosphere is rising and that CO2 has greenhouse action. Both are causes of GW. The hockey stick is not a cause, its one measure of the outcome of GW. We know that temperatures are rising much faster at the poles than tropics so in many ways that hockey stick is not a good measure of GW. But that does not mean we can deny the Keeling curve of CO2 measurements or CO2 spectroscopy.
RobH
There is no 'hockey stick' of temperature. As that book explains, it is a mathematical nonsense based on badly manipulated data and was debunked years ago. It seems the whole basis for the climate alarmism is computer models but these fail even to reproduce what is happening now, let alone predict the future as can be seen here where model predictions ( the grey mush) are compared with real satellite measurements. Yes CO2 continues to rise but the degree of 'forcing' from greenhouse gasses is still wide open to debate despite all the nonsense about the science being settled. There is no evidence to show that the present slow warming trend is other than a continued natural recovery from the 'little ice age', towards the more benign conditions experienced in the Roman and Mediaeval warm periods (when there were farms on Greenland in areas currently covered by ice). The only true hockey-stick appears to be the hype and handwaving from the climate lobby, which rises exponentially the longer it is evident that nothing bad is happening. MadMarx
What is really facing us is this.....the climate development of the last 450.000 years with peaks and lows. If I project what was in the past to what will be in the future.....we are just on that high spike on top. What comes after being on top.......going down, which is the red line. And as you can see....after the top peak the temperature drops quickly. Means - not for us right now, but maybe in 200 years people might not be able to live up north on this planet and has to migrate to Africa or middle America. The Mexicans might be happy then, if the Americans have built their wall by that time and hindering them to migrate south :-) The low zone of this chart means, 40m high shelf ice on the northern hemisphere down to the alps. Did they actually have thermometers 450,000 years ago? Acording to wikipedia they were not invented until 1645. Charlie.
Motorsport Mickey
If Christian is correct (and I subscribe to a similar view) at least we can look forward to the end of British south and eastern coast erosion and sliding into the sea. The glaciers overlaying Scotland and probably down to the centre of Britain will lie heavier on the North of the island, pushing it down and lifting the existing threatened southern coastline areas out of the seas.
