  2. Hello Wise Men In 2011 I swapped the original splined drive shafts on my TR6 for CV drive shafts bought from Moss. Largely because I kept getting MOT advisories that there was excessive play in the rear axle bearings, even after I'd replaced them. I have been pleased with the CV drive shafts until about 18 months ago when I noticed a loud cracking sound from the OS rear suspension when unloaded/loaded - ie a sharp left hand turn. Over the last year I sequentially stripped everything in the OS rear suspension/drive train without finding anything untoward. Last week I swapped the CV dr
  3. Thanks Tim, really appreciate it!
  4. A regular scam. Online payment "fails" to the apparent surprise of the buyer when they arrive to collect. Apologies and writes cheque or carries a cheque on behalf of the buyer. Cheque bounces.... A neighbour experienced this when selling a narrow guage steam engine. Fortunately he turned the lorry away and told them to return when they had paid....
  5. Hello Peter, I put a grease nipple in the steering box filler plug that you mention, and use a flexible hose on the gun. To use it I take the grill off (3A, used wellnuts, not spirenuts, to fix it), and remove the hardboard air deflector (home made, fixed by one screw). Fairly quick job. Charlie
  6. I will wave to you at Lands End Roger
  7. Hi Roger, As for the TR 5s, 1 lhd original Dutch and 1 rhd from UK the rest are 250ers from the USA.... We are not passing through the UK on this trip ... We are taking the ferry from Cherbourg to Rosslare. Cheers Marcel
  8. Dankje, komt vast wel goed, we hebben er zin in!
  9. Thank you all for your very useful suggestions! Regards, Denis
  10. I think that was Richard Tyzacs car. Any one else remember? I recognise the two dents in the apron where track start marshal’s pushed the car backwards from the grid lines.
  11. I am searching for history on my own car, which will allow me to reclaim its lost original registration of 493KPA. I have discovered a photo of a green TR3A 499KPA, which is "live" on the DVLA. If the owner reads this, or you recognise the car and know the owner, please can you get in touch with me. Your knowledge of the early days of 499KPA may help me with my search. Regards, Paul Clark PS - I am following up through Alamy.com.
  12. Not as clean or as pretty, but 3A pedal box with adjustable pushrods and travel stop on the clutch / brake light switch on the other.
  13. Hi all, any recommendations for a good oil filter and sump gasket kit for my TR250. Do people usually get the kits from Moss, Rimmer Bros and SC Parts? Thanks
  14. Tell him to talk to the Distributor Doctor. ( There really isn't much difference between an DM2 and a 45D in terms of how they work and the exterior dimensions. It isn't surprising that it works though the advance curve will not be right. )
  15. A friend phoned me at the weekend, his MGB had broken down at an awkward place on the sea front in Helensburgh and the recovery company wasn't responding and after 6.00 on a Saturday no garages were open. I diagnosed a failed electronic ignition and with a bit of fiddling about I fitted the spare distributor from my TR2, amazingly it ran well with the DM2 rather than the 45D but a temporary solution. I offered to fit a set of points but he wants to stick with the electronic ignition but what make should he fit? The failed ignition was contained within the distributor with no sign of the maker.
  16. My approach too. Stick the cork thing to the rocker cover with Permatex aviation gasket goo, and grease the cylinder head surface where the gasket is to contact.
  17. Where do you fill your steering box through? I have just “copped a job” to create a few steering box filler plugs tapped to accept grease nipples. I have a couple of spare steering box lid oil filler caps ( the ones that are not used to fill a TR steering box, but are there to tease the uninitiated) So off we go! I have seen Daimler Darts with the side of the steering box drilled and tapped with a grease nipple fitted, Easy access to fill through the wheel arch then… but to my mind the steering box will need to be empty to get any swarf out from the drilling and tapping process
  18. Veel plezier Marcel en medereizigers! Waldi
  19. Yes thats a TR3/3A Girling brake cylinder bracket, later cars deleted the adjusters. Stuart.
  20. Hi Nick! Thank you for your post and photo! It makes me enthusiastic, if this black bracket with the 2 holes is original TR3/3A?!? Please more input ( from others). Ciao, Marco
  21. I am glad you clarified that I think !!!!!!!
  22. I’m glad I’m not the only one Charly
  23. Mine has a grease nipple in the head (the Wanner, not me!), so if you have a 2nd larger gun/pump you can refill without opening too. But I don’t have one with the correct (MoS2) grease. Waldi
  24. Hi Marcel, when in the UK where will you be stopping for lunch or evening. Rumour has it that there are more TR5#s in Germany than actually came off the production line Roger
