Well all

After 6 years working on her the sun came out and it was time to she if all the effort was worthwhile.

So after pushing her out into the sunlight the scene was set. It was like been at the hospital waiting for a birth to take place!

Plugs out. Ignition lead to to coil disconnected.

Checked the HT leads are correct - no the repair manual is wrong its (1,5,3,6,2,4 Brown Bible) not 1,5,3,4,6,2.

Air bleed screw full open.

Primed the filter and filled with oil.

Turned the key she spins but no oil pressure after a few goes pulled the pressure sender oil there. Try again no pressure but the light goes out. Lazy gauge decide to go for it.

Run fuel pump for 10 mins in an effort to shift out some air.

Reconnected ignition coil lead.

Choke out.

1st Attempt nothing.

2nd Attempt checked for spark - good and strong we now have good oil pressure showing on the gauge - result.

3rd Attempt she's off choke pushed 1/2 in

Running nice on all six after a few seconds. Choke off.

Leaks has to be some? Yes thermostat housing and number one injector pipe at the MU was leaking badly.

Water leak sorted.

Petrol not so easy but at least it was easy to get at. Union was tight but still leaking removed pipe with injector tried single wrap of PTFE no better and retrospect a mistake as I suspect some of it went to the injector tip and blocked it requiring a blast of compressed air later to clear. Turns out the male olive flange on the pipe was scored so it was cut off placed in a drill chuck and treated to some fine grades of emery cloth to remove the scoring. Pipe and fitting put in boiling water for a few seconds and the pipe was back on.

4th starts on the button. Choke in, water topped up and cap in place. Stat opens and we reach running temp, fan cuts in and out as required maintained at 2000rpm 20mins. Air screw adjusted to give around 900rpm. No petrol leaks. Timing checked and adjusted. Switched off.

Jacked rear to take wheels off the ground. Restart. Stiff gear selection but they are there (Suspect it needs a re-bleed) and the overdrive is kicking in) Into neutral.

Drop her onto her wheels and she will move up and down the drive in first and reverse.

One happy camper and bottles of beer all round.

So thanks for everyones help in getting this far and making this happen. Still a lot to do but its one milestone reached.
