URGENT - Moral Support for Jean in Belgium !

Recommended Posts

Copied from the Members' Chat . . . . .

Jean sends his grateful thanks to everyone . . . . he is genuinely overwhelmed by all the posts, PMs and emails. Flabbergasted !

He hopes to reply asap . . . . . for now he gets just 3 hours out of 24 in bed, can't sit for more than 5 minutes at a stretch, the rest of the time is standing. Once the pain in his pelvis is under control he can, hopefully, type again. Meanwhile I'm helping out !

Your efforts came at just the right moment, yesterday Jean had a consultation with the oncology and radiotherapy teams to determine if there even is a way ahead . . . . bottom line, more tests today, and radiotherapy treatment to start within two weeks, fingers and toes crossed.

I know just how he must be feeling, been there got the t-shirts etc. I also know just how much the Forum input will have raised his spirits, and lifted him out of the downward spiral . . . . you can't manage that alone, it's where you can only get by with a little help from your friends.

Thanks everyone, and well done . . . . it's a start, and all hope is not lost. Keep rooting for our Jean.

Cheers

Alec

  • 2 weeks later...

Some news from our man in Belgium . . . .

Jean has had 5 radiotherapy sessions, and another half dozen coming up . . . . . meanwhile he's had 15 hospital visits in the past 3 weeks, little time for anything else. Apart from which, he's still only able to sit down for 5 minutes at a stretch, in far too much constant pain, tired out all of the time, and not able to do anything in his garage. Bl**dy frustrating for the poor guy.

The better news is that his insurers have approved immunotherapy for the next 12 months, so fingers and toes crossed everyone, please, it might just pull our Jean back from the brink . . . . .

Jean is still overwhelmed by the TR support, and yes I know just how he feels . . . . . in Jean's situation, it's the difference between throwing in the towel and hanging on in there regardless. It's a lot more comfortable negotiating with medical teams and insurers knowing that you've got a whole load of mates rooting for you in the background, it's confidence and reassurance.

Keep fighting Jean, we're all thinking of you . . . . .

Cheers

Alec

Thanks for the update Alec.

All fingers and toes crossed for both of you.

Having the old cars to take your mind of other troubles can help keep you going.

Even if its only sharing advice with others when you cant get to the spannering yourself.

Alec - thanks for the update.

Jean - how many times have you seemed to hit a brick wall

doing some job on your TR - but - a bit of time and a rest -

and it falls into place.

Keep fighting - we are all with you.

Dear Jean,

Some of the Dutch may think they have better French fries than the Belgues (now that is confusing????) but Belgium has very good health care.

Keep looking forward, to the end of the tunnel.
