  1. Did you Bondarust first? if not then I wouldnt leave it too long in that etch with the amount of damp round these days. Stuart.
  2. Yes as Mick stated I have Dellortos fitted to mine, now running 89mm so I did have to alter the original settings from when it was on 87mm and up to 34 chokes as well, properly set up it will just tootle around at very low RPM in quite high gears but as some of our local group will attest it leaves most standing and will keep with a tripe Webber TR5 up to over the ton. Gets a bit light on the front at 115 It does take a lot of setting up to achieve what you want and unless you are going to actually use the performance then SU`s do a great job anyway. FWIW if anyone is interested I d
  3. Talk nicely to a registered restorer and see what they can do for you, Im sure a handful of folding would smooth the way Stuart.
  4. Thats twaddle you can buy cellulose still full stop, the only reason for not painting a 2020 Audi in it would be that the formula for a match is non existent, however someone like Ken and Lyn paints with a sample panel could tint you the colour from a similar base. For example my version of Triumph Royal Blue that Ive painted quite a few cars over the years in was updated by Ken a couple of years ago to start from a 2018 Aston Martin colour but that still matches with the original colour I started with more than 30 yrs ago. Stuart.
  5. The gap referred to at the front is only for Surrey equipped cars, I think the OP is referring to a convertible capping. Stuart.
  6. What vehicle is it on as if its TR4 on is the column clamp inside the engine bay loose or missing? Items 58/59/60 here https://www.moss-europe.co.uk/shop-by-model/triumph/tr2-4a/steering-suspension/steering/steering-tr4-4a-1961-67.html Stuart.
  7. Doesnt look too bad, a least its complete, go for it Bob, mans got to have a hobby where is it for sale? Stuart.
  8. If the story about it going out with a serviceman is right then I suspect it was never officially exported as he would have been posted and took it with him. I wonder if Saffron TR (Derek) would have any record of it by chassis number to find an original reg number? Stuart.
  9. Do be aware that the new ones arent always a particularly good fit when it comes to the rivet holes lining up, the new Surrey ones also are somewhat lacking on the ends where the stud goes too. Also like John says they do all end up like that eventually as its in the nature of the beast. Stuart.
  10. Surprisingly Ive seen 4a with the distance piece too so it depends on what spring length is fitted. Either way there should be no metal to metal contact so insulators all round. Stuart.
  11. Have a look at the relationship between the top of the "A" post and the bottom of the frame and trim to the one thats the furthest backwards. You might need a little bit of DumDum or similar to just fill any void at the joint. Stuart.
  12. Ultrasonic bath is the best for cleaning that sort of thing. Stuart.
  13. Probably weighs half what it did now. Stuart.
  14. https://www.carandclassic.com/car/C1666112 Stuart.
  15. No its only a trim not a filler strip which is what your thinking of, it doesnt make any difference to the seal fit but its a lot easier to fit it that way than trying to fit after using the tool you showed earlier as that will mark the trim especially on the corners. Dont forget to warm the trim up to make it easier to go round the corners. Stuart.
  16. Door striker is not adjusted right or the lock internal spring is failing, the striker plate screws should be very tight so be careful not to round off when adjusting and use a big screwdriver to tighten after adjustment. Stuart.
  17. Already fitted by the looks of it. Stuart.
  18. Stanley knife is favourite and the quickest, go in the groove where you thought the trim would go with handle angled towards the frame so you cut enough of the rubber to get the screen out and then just pull the remnants out after and bin. Give the glass edge a good clean where its been in that rubber and then fit the new rubber round the screen on the bench and then fit the trim in the groove starting centre bottom and fit all the way round and leave the excess poking out at the join, fit your pull in string round the rubber with the ends at the bottom middle and apply a good amount of lube
  19. Which is usually written on the back of the speaker magnet I.e. 4 ohms or 8ohms Stuart
  20. If it spent ten years in this country I don’t see why it’s original reg can’t be reclaimed Stuart
  21. Only if you have the right kit, usually a specific machine, Stuart.
  22. Wouldnt it be possible to reclaim the original reg number as it was supplied and registered in this country first of all and if it went out with BAOR they had their own system of registration after a number of terrorist attacks? Stuart.
  23. The bracket is actually to stop the engine moving forward Stuart.
  24. The plate fits like this. Stuart.
  25. Brass bleed nipples are a much better fit in the thread so do make for easier bleeding.https://www.automec.co.uk/collections/fittings/products/brass-bleed-screws-unf Stuart.
