  1. I think you're right Dave, that's what I'll do too.
  2. This is an interesting conversation, as I'm just in the process of rebuilding the body onto the chassis, although my body is being refitted in separate parts, as it was a cut in half job with new floors and sills. I've bolted the floors on with all the mounting shims, but firstly I found that if I put the circular metal shims on the forward holes on the T shirt as per the Moss diagram,(interestingly not as Stuart says, on the seat belt holes-have Moss got it wrong?) then it holds the floor panels too high at that point, and they rock on the shim. So I've placed thin rubber shims instead, and t
  3. Hi Malcolm. To be honest I haven't thought far enough ahead yet to work out whether to fit the engine and transmission before the body goes on as the body is going to take at least another couple of years, and the engine is going to need a rebuild. the gearbox and overdrive is sorted though! Slowly, slowly cachee monkee. Dave.
  4. Hi Mike. I think that you are right, in that it was a safety mod required by the American market. Dave.
  5. I got this as well. It went to junk, but I thought it might be plausible so transferred it to my inbox. Haven't opened it Because I was suspicious I will now delete it . Thanks for the 'heads - up'. Dave.
  6. What a talented and determined lady, we need to see more of them. Dave.
  7. When I was in the RAF, some of the guys I met were ex Beverly pilots and they said that sometimes, coming back from Italy, if the northerly wind was strong over the Alps- the Levanter or Scirocco, can't remember which now- they couldn't make it against the headwind. It wasn't the fastest aircraft in the inventory! Still glad to hear it's been saved. Dave.
  8. Hi Roger, I might be interested in one of these for my TR5 rebuild A type O/D. Is it the same as the Revington system? Sorry for being a bit thick, but what is the switch to which you refer?. Dave.
  9. Thanks yes I was coming around to that way of thinking, but that confirms it. Ta. Dave.
  10. Thanks for the inputs guys. Yes, the position of the outer of the two holes circled would seem to correspond with the position of the seat belt stalk. Upon further investigation, the inner two holes are not threaded, so a bit of a mystery. I get what you're saying about the possibility that the strange bracket by the steering rack support being some sort of safety device, but surely it would be on the other side to stop any spearing business. On a similar theme, The body to chassis fitting kit which I bought from Moss contains a couple of strange rectangular belled mounting plates fo
  11. Just mounted the chassis on its supports on the bench, ready for the body rebuild, and have a few questions which I'm hoping you can help me with. 1st. would it be a good idea to load the chassis with say sand bags to simulate the engine and gearbox weight (as suggested by Roger Williams in his book- 'How to restore Triumph TR5/250 & 6').? 2nd. I'll probably find out in due course, but looking at the attached photos - what goes into the threaded holes on the top T shirt? there doesn't seem to be any sort of bolt or screw shown on the parts diagram. (circled) 3rd. This is
