Alan Cochrane
Hi Everyone From October this year the DVLA will no longer issue or require you to display a current tax disc. Everything will be available by scanning your number plate instead. This gives us all an opportunity to get a vintage tax disc of our choosing. I've ordered one each for my GT6 and E-Type from this website:- http://www.poplargreg.com There are other sites providing the same thing but this one came recommended on the E-Type Forum. For £11 you get three copies of the disc plus a lifetime's replacement guarantee. You can have the original issuing office, original registration and expiry date, cost and vehicle type written on it. Here's one that an E-Type Forum member has received from the same website:- I have no connection to the website by the way. Cheers Alan
peejay4A
Nice one Alan. I'll have three of those I think.
AndrewMAshton
And better still, a policeman told me that the ANPR camera will not read the old fashioned black and white pressed plates, cheers, Andrew

parky
I dont know what I am going to do, no tax disc! it will ruin my collection. I even have one for March 30 2012. It means more space on the windscreen for other things. Parky
dykins
I dont know what I am going to do, no tax disc! it will ruin my collection. I know what you mean. Each of my cars has its own folder with all their documentation (nearly 40 years worth for the Stag ) which includes previous tax discs nicely mounted in groups of six. Does anyone think that I need to get out more?
ianhoward
Does anyone think that I need to get out more? Yes - in your TR!!! :-) Cheers Ian

RogerH
Hi Peter D, took the 4A out yesterday for a group run. Overcast in the morning followed by biblical downpour that the screen sweepers couldn't keep up with. The afternoon was blues skies and fluffy clouds. Get out there. Alan Cochrane
Well the tax discs arrived today and I'm very pleased with them indeed. Three copies of each plus a seven page history of the Road Tax Disc all for £19. Cheers Alan
peejay4A
I like the option he gives you of customising the cancellation stamp to the issuing authority of your choice. Neat.
RogerH
Hi Alan, thanks for starting this thread. You have spurred me on to get my rebuild finished for MOT this week (please). Roger
Alan Cochrane
Roger No worries, if it helps you over the finish line all the better. I've followed your restoration thread and had a good few chuckles. I'm at the other end of the process-starting to dismantle my TR250. Progress is slow and intermittent due to my other cars continually demanding attention. The thoughtless buggers! On the plus side my better half, Shona, was getting stuck into the strip down as well. Is nothing sacred anymore. She's also good at interior refurbis and plastering but not on the rebuild hopefully. Let us know how your mot goes. Alan P.S. I'd love to see a picture of your ramps. I've tried to visualise them.
MRG1965
How did I miss this? Well not surprising I missedthe news about mot certificates, first I knew that mot certificates were changing was when I asked the mot tester what was this piece of cr@p he was handing me! So a new (old) tax disk on its way for my babies 1st birthday April 65. Or should I just find avery old brown beer bottle label to replace the tax disk. Mark
RogerH
Hi Alan, The bonnet is leading me a merry chase at the mo. MOT still looking good for tomorrow. See attached a pic of the ramps. It gives apprx 20" clearance underneath. They work OK and are more than strong enough. You do need to drive the car up them unless you could fit a winch to the front. I tried that once with a temporary arrangement and it worked well - must try and get a permanent arrangement. Roger
MilesA
Gosh, those are 'the Biz' Roger! Bespoke, I presume. Miles

mike3md
Roger, I think I would chock underneath at the the rear to prevent it tipping backwards. I have visions of the car rolling off and away down the road.......... Mike
RogerH
Hi Mike, the CofG of the car is well over the tipping point. However I always do have a scissor jack under the back when working on it. I'll give you a horror story next time I see you. SuzanneH
And it wasn't my fault and for the second time in our lives I got and apology from him.
Alan Cochrane
Roger Nice TR4A. I always thought that white was the best colour for it, Well done with the ramps as well, I'm very fortunate to have a large pit and four post lift in my garage, otherwise I'd seriously consider a set of these.
