    Inertia Seat Belts

Question is, where is the lock? Near the seat (good) on your pelvic or belly (poor)?

Thanks Stuart, that's exactly SWMBO's point -- no hot bottoms! (I'm certain we can think of other ways to say that! )
  5. While you're at it Jim, unless you've a modern PRV it is an excellent time to do that as well. Then you're certain of a good fueling, though you might check your rubber hosing to make sure it is E-10 compatible...

    TR 6 Reifen

I would love to get my hands on some 185/70 for a price less than my firstborn!
  7. After removing all the barrel seals, I pushed with my hands against a hard surface. The O rings may have hardened which would make it harder. But there's no magic/hidden key you risk breaking. Do you have the Lucas manual? If not, it's essential. Cheers, JC

    heating

Is that not the same (functionally) as simply closing the heater valve? That's what I do year-round here in Sydney. But I did bring the car from the UK so it's not an example of a hot-climate spec (if there was a difference). Cheers, JC
  10. In cases like that it should be a pass and advise it’s not hard to apply common sense as I’ve mentioned before on the refresher courses we were told pass and advise if there was any confusion with the bible (mot testers manual ) HOWEVER that didn’t mean pass and advise something that is excessively worn or corroded because it’s a mates car !! I think we’ve all said get the vehicle annually motd or at the very least ask for a voluntary ramp inspection and roller brake test just be safe if you haven’t seen my post on the rear hub unit that failed the other week have a look at the picture if l ha

Ive got the original cloth version of the MX seats in my 4a and I personally prefer them in hot weather to the leather especially if you leave the car with hood down in hot weather! Stuart.
  12. Correct, a much better pre filter and there is a stainless mesh inner filter to go in that lasts forever, much less restriction. Stuart.
  13. TR5/6 stalk mounts are forward of the 4a ones anyway Marco. Stuart.
  14. FWIW If anyone is fitting a Marx/Bastuck seal I have the setting tool for it should you require. Stuart.
  15. Dust talcum powder on the joins as it will show up even the slightest weep. The tank vent down behind the offside rear wheel is a favourite for smells in an enclosed garage too. Stuart.
  16. Then you can appeal or probably an easier option is go somewhere else. Failing on a nylon bush would mean all TR4/5/6 would fail then. Obviously avoid the Kwikfit/Halfrauds etc type of place. Stuart.
  17. I wonder what happens legally in a case like that. You will be issued with a failure notice, which will be there for everyone to see on the DVLA website. I assume that if you continue driving it and the police stop you for any reason then they will know that the car has failed an MOT and never been re-presented with the “Failing” item fixed. This must indicate that the car, at the time of the MOT, was not roadworthy in the eyes of the examiner, and must still be deemed unroadworthy, as there is no proof otherwise (in the form of a PASS certificate.) BUT.. You don’t actually
  18. Well done Tim, good to hear a positive outcome. Check the block carefully for any cracks caused by frozen water damage that may have occurred during that slumber. Jerry

Hi Steve A fellow group member has MR2 cloth seats fitted in his 6 I’ve removed them and refitted after some work for him they are a perfect fit if l could find some leather ones l would fit to my 4a Chris
  20. That's fine if they're prepared to listen, but what do you do with the ones that decide your nylon steering column bushes don't provide the stability comparable to a modern roller bearing & fail it anyway even though it is acceptable for the period? Jerry

Very nice Kev. Awaiting a reply from Paul so I can get pricing/availability. Will need to discuss with SWMBO whether to go with vinyl/leatherette or breathable covering. I do very much like the white piping on Peter's seats.

Hi Steve, I got my seats from Paul Bishop about 10 years ago, very happy with them and they are still very comfortable. We’ve driven around France and Spain many times. Cheers Kev.
  23. Jim, I can't see any reason from what I've learned here to not go the Bosch/Sytec route as many here have tried and tested which works a treat. Fitting is easy and the tyre has plenty of room to go in, and we pack the space around the tyre with spare parts when away. The Sytec also has an advantage of easy to clean/change filter.

Rich those look brilliant and I've dropped Paul an email to enquire. He's not a million miles away from us so collection would be a nice day out. Peter your point is well taken -- if Paul doesn't have some to hand, I'll look to source some and have him refurb them. You both deserve a pint for your kind assistance!
  25. If it still has the original style fuel pump they can leak on the connections. cheers Alan
