Zest had a bumper front edge reminiscent of the stag, Fury had flip up headlamps and body line reminiscent of the Spitfire , so i guessed the one you're showing was Zoom, but Revington's Zoom has outboard headlamps ..so i don't know. Wheel size not too big for Herald based ? Edited February 7 by Bfg

john.r.davies
For once, just for once, slightly, very slightly outclassed. In third place is a Jaguar.

Cheers Richard Hi Richard, I, too, thought it was Coniston but in fact the picture was taken at Christmas 1964 in Western Australia. Donald Campbell broke the Water Speed Record on New Year's Eve 1964 on this thirteen kms long lake. Two years later, on 4th January 1967, he was killed on Coniston Water. The 1958 XK150 had been replaced by a 1965 E-Type. https://www.bluebird-electric.net/lake_dumbleyung_australia.htm John - The Jaguar outclassed in Third Place - excellent! :-) Rod

Correct….I think it’s perhaps implausible that the Jag and Tr were taken to Aus. Perhaps a stock photo being used on the Australian site.

The launch site was a bit more "outback" at Lake Dumbleyung. At Coniston, he didn't have to navigate through the trees. Deggers Edited February 9 by Deggers

Pete If perhaps you haven't discovered it already Pete, the Revs Institute Digital Library is an archive well worth a look. An extraordinary collection of over 700,000 historic motorsport images by 40 international photographers, including nearly 52,000 pictures from British 'Autosport' photographer George Phillips. The archive can be searched online by marque, year, event, venue, driver and photographer. There are almost 2000 search results for "Triumph" alone (which sounds like the makings of a very lengthy coffee break!). All images are watermarked, however clean copies can be purchased through the site. Search results for "Triumph" can be found here : Revs Institute - Triumph Individual photographer collections are listed here : Revs Institute - Photographers Deggers
david ferry
I appreciate that this may be a little thread drift, but here's an old picture of my TR3b race car. It's been a race car since new. This photo is from when it was in America. And a more recent one from the assembly area at Brands Hatch with me in the driver's seat.

Deggers
Ah, I did wonder if your 3A might have featured in the archive, Iain. Great shot. Was your profile picture taken during the Monte too? (Those tyres are something else!) Deggers

In fact, hood down increases drag, thanks to the turbulence in the footwells. That's why a tonneau usually has a central zip. so that the passenger side may be closed off, but a solid cover is better, as the Jabbeke car had. And crash helmet? I don't think so! A leather cap to keep your hair on, perhaps!
