What make are these alloy wheels and will they fit a TR6 ?

Recommended Posts

I was browsing at classic car pictures when I came across the Steve McQueen Bullitt Mustang Fastback.

The alloys on this beasty are lovely and I would love them for my TR.

What are they ?

Are they still made or copies available ?

And will they be able to fit a TR6 ??

Happy New Year to all

I think you will find that the wheels you were originally looking at are only available as 5 stud! (From a Mustang owner). My friend who has a 6 Cylinder early Mustang (4 stud only) went for a minilite look alike wheel but grey in colour. These would fit a TR (with correct stud pattern).

My ex-USA TR6 had these American Racing wheels when I got it. They rubbed slightly, so I fitted some standard steel wheels, and sold the ARE wheels to the Register's TR6 registrar! So make sure you get the correct offset.

I've emailed GC360 Enterprise for a quote for 4 Silverstone 2 with spinners and nuts + shipping UK.

No doubt you can get them in the UK, but sometimes it works out cheaper to buy from North America and have them shipped here .

Thanks for the link.

I really like these wheels !!

Thanks to everyone for their input and advice.

Steve,

The guy who sells the Silverstone II only sells direct so they won't be available in the UK unless second hand. I intend to fit them to my TR250 when it gets near to completion. I met the owner of GC360 at a show a couple of years ago. His car is the black TR4 with highly polished set of Silverstones. The other wheel was in the back of his car.

I think you will find the ones on the Highland green Mustang are Torq thrusts and were OE for Shelby built cars and were available after market for a lot of US cars.http://www.wheelsforless.com/american_racing_torq_thrust.html unfortunately only available as 5 bolt.

There WERE some period ARE wheels in a very very similar design

to the ones shown. 5-spoke and 4-stud fixing for TRs.

Highly sought after by TR6 owners and fetch the same sort of price

as the period 8-spoke Silverstone wheels.

I could've swore I saw Torque Thrust wheels some fitted to a TR4 or 5!!

Anyway today I had an email back from CG360 .

Cost of Silverstones, spinners and nuts, $1250 Canadian.

$820 wheels plus centres and nut

$80 spinners

$350 shipping with DHL

this works out to around £700

Not bad at all I thought and something a bit different from the norm.

Dont forget the import duty and VAT by the way.

There is no Duty on most car parts, wheels included, you just have to know where to look!

https://www.gov.uk/trade-tariff/commodities/8708701010#import

You do need to apply the VAT on the total cost including shipping and insurnce, however.
