  1. If the replacement repro panel are as poor as those for the TR6 I would suggest you repair what you have. I ended up going this way when I couldn't make the repro fit after which I simply cut it up to repair the original. Andy
  2. You need to learn how to drink correctly
  3. Thanks for the warning Rob nothing is simple is it? Both cars are of the CAN NOT TOUCH variety!!
  4. Thanks for the advice Alan I'll be giving it a go on our cars as both require the brake pedal to be pressed. Andy
  5. Thanks Rob interesting read, 20L it is then.
  6. Before I do the same as others and order 20L from Westway on the basis of one oil change/year is there a shelf life? Will it maintain its properties over 3-4 years so I'm not throwing it away. Andy
  7. Thanks Pete for a more in depth insight as to why a steel offering would be a better option. I'd forgot the inbuilt rust inhibitor system from the usual oil leaks most cars develop which may have more of a detrimental effect on fibre glass. Andy
  8. I could be missing it, but looking at the Valvoline data sheet I can see no mention of the levels of ZDDP. Bobs Westway suggestion seems good value for 5L and states the additive levels are these levels considered optimum for a road based car? Andy
  9. I wonder where all this is going to end when there seems to be that stealing property is now seen as an occupational hazard to be endured by those who pay their way and contribute to the policing of society. As it is folk are forced to pay extra for additional security which is feeble at best. It's about time if the police refuse to act and the laws are not made severe enough to deter that people should be free to take their own measures to sort out the footpads. Or should we just leave our doors open? But guess what? I bet the police would be down on you like a ton of bricks and you woul
  10. Hi John I think I would ask them if they would mind having their photos taken while standing in front of the car they arrived in and its number plate. Sorry state of affairs but my Moto is trust no one who I don't know when they arrive at my house. No doubt the police will do exactly nothing but issue an incident number. Its about time flogging was reinstated? Glad to hear at least the insurance paid up. Andy
  11. Agree with Nigel after trying to fit a white fibreglass offering which was no where near a fit. The Racestorations was a perfect fit only one mod you may want to consider is to cut a hole to allow easy access to the starter motor top bolt which is otherwise very difficult to access from under the car. Metal will rust and transfer lots of heat into the cabin fine in winter but in summer perhaps not. Andy
  12. Mine looked similar but it was greatly improved with the use of polish and buffing wheel attached to my bench grinder. Now has just a few deeper marks but better than trying to fit a repro. Andy
  13. Correct being on that journey with the MX5 and not every mod added to the recipe some were reversed through a long process of evolution. The 1.6 was derived from the Mazda 323 Turbo and the bottom end retained the lubrication system including oil squirters to the bottom of the pistons making it a good basis for re-requiring boost which BBA did as a dealer option. That got you around 200bhp with a bigger Garret turbo and kit from FM got you a reliable 240bhp with a good ecu and tuning. Wanting a challenge I pushed on with a 1.6 forged bottom end uprated oil pump, balanced with a ATI damper
  14. Hi Mick Totally agree I suspect there's a lot of clever marketing behind a lot of it but just occasionally the bean counters at the development stage did leave some room for improvement.
  15. Lovely colour combination with the Blue hood like it! Hope you have lots of fun with her. Andy
  16. Just for some debate and evidence has anyone compared the bhp results of Std cast manifold, 6-3-1 and 6-2-1 on a dyno with no other changes? Reason I ask is that when I made the comparison using the same dyno on the MX5 with std manifold to an off the shelf extractor and then a custom the gains were minimal within 2-5 bhp of each even with a custom exhaust system concluding that given the cost/bhp the std manifold was acceptable and the money was better used elsewhere. Did Triumph get it right? Andy
  17. Brake cleaner. For what they cost it buys you a lot of aerosols!
  18. That's the one I had that didn't last long. Maybe I was unlucky how long has yours lasted?
  19. The brake cleaner will destroy the seals quite quickly even one meant for garage use I bought didn't survive long. Anyone advise one that will last? Gone back to aerosols for now. Andy
  20. We are looking towards the back trailing arms/T shirt with the diff bridge at the back of the pic.
  21. I think you will find Dave they are for the seat belt stalk and IIRC the seat runner? Andy
  22. PodOne

    Rear bulb holders

+1 Definitely the way to go.
  23. Hi Dave Bought quite a few parts from Alistair over the last few years and always being happy with his parts and communication. I'm sure get back to you. For what its worth if I wanted power steering I think I'd go with CDD kit as the assistance is maximum at low speed/parking and reduces with speed and likely will maintain the original "feel" and is DIY. I'm sure someone will come along who actually has it fitted to comment further. Andy
  24. Likely never happen even if the tooling comes to light as the younger generation of classic car owners are more focused on 1980's offering so demand is going to go down. Unfortunate but each generation to their own.
  25. Consider bleeding the injectors and checking there spray patterns might just need a clean and some spirited driving to improve matters. Running points or electronic ignition? Also could be a failing coil consider changing it out for another one. Andy
