  1. Thanks for warning me about the brisk way these things engage! I would have been pulling it back out thinking I had got something wrong. I stripped it to clean and inspect, which paid off as the cone clutch had stuck on one side and there was a broken circling to replace. Apparently this box had been lying in a garage for 30 years. As the owner is long gone, I cannot grace any further. I’m a year off completion of this project ( hopefully!) but I cannot thank you all enough for your feedback! Regards Alan.

You are welcome, you have something rather special there.

  2. Hi!, thanks for your input regarding my *mystery gearbox *. I have come to the point where I need a box for my project, so yesterday I cleaned off the casing prior to a complete strip down. I was both surprised and intrigued to find the words WORLD CUP written in yellow marker paint on top of the bellhousing!, I seem to recollect a World Cup rally series in my youth, so maybe you are right! Regards Alan.

Hi!, thanks for all the great info. If you type in mystery gearbox it should come up . Unfortunately I cannot seem to upload your useful and interesting reply as I am not the best with these contraptions! I will however update the site, giving you the credit you richly deserve, and my findings which support your theory. If for some reason you cannot find the site get back to me and I will try to help. Regards Alan.
