Jonny TR6
72 CP. Standard American Walnut, satin finished dash (not the one in the pic). Non standard chrome bezels (I like them but can easily switch to black) and currently have a leather 3 spoke steering wheel which I believe might be from a later car. It has slots in the spokes rather than holes. I’ve been refurbishing a Moto Lita period steering wheel, but undecided on whether to stick with the leather wheel or use the Moto Lita. Both are 14”. I know there will be answers of “use what you like” etc but I’d be interested in people’s thoughts on what they’ve used and their experiences of the Moto Lita. if anyone has a pic of what should be on a 72 from factory that would also be appreciated. Thanks in advance as ever ! Edited May 24, 2023 by Jonny TR6
CK's TR6
Here is pic of my wheel (koa)mounted on it's hub and another wheel I made in quilted maple in a GT6. Wouldn't trade the extra leg room for anything.
stallie
I have the 13" mona Lita. Love it. Heavy in carparks, but I didn't buy it to enjoy parking with. Edited May 25, 2023 by stallie

Thanks in advance as ever ! The 70 to 72 CP should have a 15" wheel like your 14" black wheel, the center padding is different for the earlier wheel, neither are leather, but are molded to look like it. I've had a wooden mota lita, swapped that for a 14" leather mota lita, which felt great and was slightly thicker. Now I've gone to a incorrect 14" but fitted the earlier center padding and horn push. Paul Hill
I love my Moto Lita just the right thickness and space underneath in relation to the seat

harlequin
I have a Nardi wheel that I picked up at an auto jumble. It's mounted on the original TR hub that is turned upside down using a 1/4" thick adaptor plate. The hardest part of the job was turning the horn button badge round George Correction the hardest part of the job is getting the #$@%&€ photo the right way up Edited May 25, 2023 by harlequin
DaveB66
Jonny I have a 14" leather Moto Lita on my TR6 and a wooden 14" one on my TR4. The main difference between the two is that the leather rim is thicker than the wooden one and I like them both equally. One point raised by a MSUK scrutineer was that the wooden rim could split and do damage to you in the event of an impact, he went onto say there was nothing in the regulations to prevent you using one. Another aspect to consider. Dave

Jonny TR6
Thanks all - will see how my Moto Lita looks when it come back from being finished off by Gary Cronshaw. It’s all sanded down and spokes polished, but needs some professional finishing rather than my amateur attempt.
CP26309
It is a matter of choice. I replaced my original 15" CP s/wheel (which I've kept safe) with a 14" MoMo which looks similar to the original 1969 black Triumph wheel. Problem for me with the original was the rim was uncomfortable thin, and it didn't have padding on the spoke ends which hurt my thumps on rough roads and pot holes! The original also had a 3" deep boss. Whereas the MoMo has a very short boss, moving the wheel further away which I prefer.
