Xmas6
Hi all - I’m in the process of installing a Sytec fuel pump and need to install a new PRV, however, being frugal (tight) I’ve been looking at cheap Chinese units at around fifteen quid. Has anyone out there any experience or recommendation on which valve to use and where to obtain it? The original unit is u/s and not ideally suited to the “Bosch” type pump. All suggestions gratefully received. Cheers Neil.

Waldi
Hi Neil, I would still order the ones sold by our specialists. It has prooven to be working (Ethanol containing fuel compatibility, accuracy, flowrate, connections etc). Maybe you can find the direct source and have it cheaper. good luck, Waldi
Paul Hill
Chinese stuff tends not to last. I bought a airless spray unit for the business, the suppliers said it was manufactured in Ireland, it’s was built in Ireland Chinese materials, lasted about 4 months. In the end they had it back and I bought German, had it 5 years and only had the pump rebuilt once. Me and Chinese mechanical, no chance
colin3511
Made by Malpassi in Italy. I tried to bypass the usual suppliers but couldn't save anything on cost. Colin

Mike C
I've used an original Lucas PRV with a 957 pump for 20 years and it looked old when I bought the car. Don't know if I would be too keen to experiment with unproven alternatives- if it fails closed you can expose the MU to the full pump head at low load and possibly overheat the pump. If it fails open you'll starve the engine of fuel. Secondhand original PRV's are pretty cheap on ebay, I'd spend the money on one of these and check it's function with compressed air if I was concerned about it. Mick Forey
My original fitment Lucas fuel pump failed in 2007 (whilst touring in Greece) so I fitted a Bosch kit but left the original PRV installed. It still works well after 130,000 miles and 46 years so I think the design and build quality are quite good. Mick

Clarkey
Neil Some things in life you have to dig deep for fella, and Im from Yorkshire the land of short arms and deep pockets I am running a different prv than standard, but i did buy it from one of our reputable suppliers, but i did get my old pro referred but Neil and keep it as a spare just incase Edited January 8, 2019 by Clarkey
Richard71
Only slightly off topic here......refer to Clarkey's photos above please and the PRV, note the small barbed pipe adjacent to the domed nut. Underneath the domed nut is the adjustment screw for fast and easy adjustment of fuel pressure, the small barbed pipe is I believe to accommodate turbo boost attachment, from the pipe I reckon I'm getting some fuel vapour filling the boot space.....anyone else find this? I have no apparent fuel leak, checked with trusty blue roll time & time again! Richard.
