Chilliman
Well done Nige, a year is good going for most restorers...I should know! Just a couple of things - I'm sure others will be along to correct me if I'm wrong, I appreciate the horns are modern repros but I think they are mounted upside down? and secondly I would re-think that fuel supply line, it's never a good idea to have that number of unions and a plastic inline fuel filter over the top of your exhaust manifold.... Good luck for the MOT...
RogerH
Hi Nige, PM sent. Roger
stuartmac
Do you have to mount the horns "upside down" because there is no mounting stud on the other side??
nigethomas
Hi chilliman I will take a look at the horns and spin them round.will also remove that filter and just have straight pipe going to carbs. Thanks for the advice always appreciated. Cheers Nige

ChrisR-4A
Looking good Nige, two questions, what's holding the battery down and were you going to fit a radiator cowl, it's best for cooling airflow. Chris
Paul J
Well done Nigel it's looking good, I know exactly how you feel having been at your stage a few months back. You will have the summer to establish the wide grin. Paul
nigethomas
Hi chris The picture of engine bay was taken while ago I've got clamp attached now to it.not sorted the cowl yet though for radiator.to be honest there still quite few jobs to do to finish it but just need to get mot sorted so I can get it registered. Cheers Nige
nigethomas
Thanks Paul is your car on the road now then?does it take long for dvla to sort new number out? Nige
smyllie
Hi Nigel, looking good you must be feeling proud of your achievements - another one back from the brink. I am probably a couple of months behind you with my full TR4 resto. Getting very exciting. Good luck and let us know how the MOT goes.
F1loco
You can always use a metal fuel filter in place of the clear plastic. I have to agree, it gets quite hot where you have it located and you certainly don't want melt down over a hot exhaust manifold. Very nice work.
nigethomas
Cheers guys Been hard work at times and quite stressfull lol.will keep you updated. Nige
Paul J
Thanks Paul is your car on the road now then?does it take long for dvla to sort new number out? Nige Hi NigelYes I'm on the road, have done a couple of club runs and about 1000 miles in all. The term completed is a little false as there always seems to be things that need fettling, have just fitted a Revotec fan which has certainly improved things under the bonnet. Next fault to rectify is a gearbox oil leak but I'm saving that for end of summer. Getting your MOT is a milestone, receiving that piece of paper after all the work put into a total rebuild, all the head scratching, burns, scratches, sore knees, bangs on the head, it will all seem so worthwhile. DVLA were only about a week issuing the age related number all went really well, I insured it through the club, then MOT'd it on the chassis number, MOT guy found my deliberate mistake (two loose track rod ends). Just make sure you send all the documents they ask for with the V55, I sent the original heritage certificate, all the docs were returned within a couple of days of receiving my new number. Best of luck Paul

nigethomas
Hi Sean I've really had to push on this year with it as due to be taking it to Woolaton park motor show in June.will be nice feeling driving it down there in the morning though just hope it gets there ???? TR4A1965
Well done Nige!!!! Looks great. How exciting getting to the MOT stage. Best Paul.
stuartmac
So what was the outcome with the horns? Im interested because when I purchased my car the repro horns had a stud superglued to the underside so they could be mounted "the right way up" Needless to say the studs lasted 5 minutes before they fell off - I didnt appreciate what had been done until this happened. Now the horns are mounted upside down - and operate perfectly well. Regards Stuart
nigethomas
Well the TR passed it's MOT this morning with no advisories ???? so next job is to get it registered. On a more sad note my gearbox is shot ????.never really been able to test the box properly until today and 3rd and 4th gear sounds awfull above 40 mph so in need of a good gearbox now.dont think I'll make it to Woolaton now though . Stuart the horns I didn't do anything with as like yours the stud is underneath so only go on one way. Nige
