mark_smugglers
Hi i can see that the side flashers are handed. But which way round do they go? Thick end at the front (to make them parallel to car) or thick end at back (to accentuate the angle of the wing)? thanks
Paul Hill
Thick end at the back, more aero efficient Edited August 19, 2019 by Paul Hill
aardvark
The thick end should be at the front. Cheers dave
Steves_TR6
Glad we cleared that up :-)
ed_h
Look closely at the lenses. Mine were marked LH and RH. Ed Edited August 18, 2019 by ed_h

aardvark
The TR6 is a squarish type of car rather than angular so Mark’s original post where he describes the repeaters as being ‘parallel to the car’ must be what Karmann wanted to achieve. So now that you know, are you still going to be wearing your shoes on the wrong feet ? cheers dave
Paul Hill
Done a bit of searching on the Cars for sale Pistonheads and Auto Trader and there are many cars which have them thick end to the front as there are thin end to the front. Mine are staying as they are
ed_h
Many people don't realize that they are handed. Repro lenses might not even be marked. Ed
Phil H 4
It's like an itch that needs to be scratched, so just nipped out to the garaged. Mine are marked LH, RH and thick to the front. Phil.
ed_h
Phil, when I looked at your picture, something looked different. I nipped out to the garage myself. That was it! The chrome-like border of the US spec cars. It seems such a trifle to create a whole different part for. Ed
Phil H 4
Hi Ed, I see Mark who started the discussion also has a chrome surround, not sure if his is a UK registered car, guess there are a lot of variations out there. Phil

Phil Yep. Mine is a 1972 rhd UK registered PI.
aardvark
My cp car has the original Lucas lenses and they have the chrome surrounds. The original tr book also shows the uk cars at least as having the chrome surround. Ed - where have you read that the chrome is us only?

I don't rightly remember, but I think I've seen it more than once. Still could be wrong, though. I believe the chrome ones are hard to find these days. Ed
saffrontr
All PI TR6 both CP and CR series had chrome surround lenses originally. It is the current repro lenses that have plain surrounds , presumably the manufacturer of these can't do the chrome for some reason or other.

cvtrian
"Hard to find" - If anyone is desperate for a pair of chrome surround lenses, I have a spare pair in the garage. PM me if interested. Ian
SeanF
You can re-create the chrome effect with some chrome paint if you want to. Mask up, gentle rub with grey or red scotch-brite pad, dash of plastic primer, then chrome paint. Works a treat
ed_h
I did mine with alumin(i)um leaf. Ed
AdrianH
An actual difference between 'US spec' (may also apply to other territories) and 'UK spec' that I've seen, and in fact is visible in this thread, is the presence of a fresnel reflector component in the US version.
