Fredell1977
Dear all. I am thinking of restoring my very early CP chassis tr6 and I would like to change its colour. Was Valencia blue available for early cars ( or by special order)? Thanks
boxofbits
Hi I think Valencia Blue was an earlier TR4 factory colour, but you should not have a problem spraying it in that colour. Here's a list of official TR6 factory colours, but I don't know if it's exhaustive. http://www.trregistry.com/start/registry/html/painttrimcodes.php Regards Kevin
Tom Boyd
Valencia blue was an option on TR5's Can't say I have seen a TR6 in that colour It's your car, paint it how you wish Tom
cp25616
Don't know how to add pics on this website so I have sent you a PM Fredell 1977.
TR 2100
It's your car, paint it how you wish Tom Quite so, but be aware that a non-standard colour will detract from re-sale value. Valencia Blue is identified so strongly with the TR5 that it may look strange to see it on a TR6, hence a likely reduction in value. AlanR
Marc R
FYI, one of my TR6 (CKD Malines CP '72 with the "1" pre-fix and "P" suffix) was delivered Valencia blue with windscreen frame on the same color as it was possible to order a specific color from the BL color list. Regards Thats because Malines would paint any colour on any car if so ordered. Triumph would do the same in the early days though not sure if that still applied by the seventies. Stuart. saffrontr
Alan Charlton also from France owns a Valencia Blue TR6. Alan's TR6 had originally been bought in Strasbourg by a French Army office based in Germany who had taken it back to France with him in 1973. Alan's is a 1971 CKD TR6 built in Maline so good to know that they painted more than the one TR6 in Valencia. To my eyes the colour suits the TR6 more than it does the TR5. Just my opinion of course! cheers Derek
alan57
Another pic - as Derek says - bought new in France - I have the original order form and invoice Edited September 7, 2017 by alan57

AlanR Well it may do with the 'rivet counter' brigade but I doubt that a great looking but non-standard colour would put off the average first time 6 buyer.
YankeeTR5
I've seen a TR6 painted Valencia Blue over here in the states. Not an original color to the car, but very attractive. If this color is in your mind, I'd paint it. It "might" detract from value, but given its an original TR color and looks darn good on the car, it might do the opposite.
