jerrytr5
Any idea what this is? Sprung wire thing that is bolted beneath the upper steering column mount. Looks like it could stop the column dropping if both shear bolts dropped out, but it's far too light for any safety use surely. Unable to find in on-line parts manual but I don't really know what I'm looking for. Jerry
RobH
Looks like the sort of thing that might be used to hold a wiring loom in place. Edited January 15 by RobH typo
jerrytr5
That makes sense Rob. Supports the column switch wiring harness. Seems a cumbersome way of doing it though, weren't cable ties invented when they were building 7's ? I'll delete it without any qualms. Jerry
BlueTR3A-5EKT
Not something odd ball like an earthing strap for the horn to function? I do not recall ever selling something like that. The factory had certainly embraced plastic straps on the TR7. Look at the glove box lid restraint strap. Now that was a good seller along with dip sticks. Wiring harness is retained by part number 611369. Never seen any thing like your wire thing when dismantling my 5. Cheers, Tim

Topoff
Hi I’ve broken and rebuilt a few 7s and never seen one of them. A previous owners mod? Laurence.

TR8IAN
This is part no TKC5926, I have seen it under the steering column but haven't given it a thought as to what it does. I will have to go and have a look and see - will report back. Edited January 17 by TR8IAN

Which parts book did you find it in? I do not have any earlier book than 79 on which includes convertible’s Still no idea of its function.
