dblenk
As the title Were they fitted to J type overdrives just wondering wether my new plastic tunnel needs holes cutting etc or will it fit straight over ?? thanks david
Mike C
I don't think any inspection holes were fitted originally. I fibreglassed my original tunnel and had to cut my own. If you install inspection ports make sure your carpet fitment is such that you can access the ports without removing the H frame.
John Bracher
Hi David It is a good idea to fit them, as to remove the entire cover, just for some minor thing is a Pain! When I replaced my cardboard tunnel with a Fibreglass one, I also split it in two, so the rear half can be removed without having to get to bulkhead fixings undone, disconnect O'D wiring etc. John
John L
Look on the Revington TR site, they do have a good one that is split and does have the access panels, as well as a lift off top. John
dblenk
Revington one sounds good cheers David
BlueTR3A-5EKT
This sort of thing? https://www.racetorations.co.uk/product/split-gearbox-tunnel-tr4a-6/

PodOne
I can also vouch for the Racetorations offering as the one to fit having tried and failed to fit another from the usual suspect which is now propped up in the corner of the garage. Just one thing you might consider is cutting an extra hole/grommet to allow access to the top starter motor bolt. Andy
John Bracher
Mine was from CTM. Not sure if Colin would have any left now? Have to say, the fit was very good. Just for my own comfort, I did reinforce it and put heat shielding on the inside, so no more 'cooked up' left foot!!
astontr6
A very good point, I still have the original cardboard one which I put a hole in to reach the top starter motor bolt years ago. But remember that you need a very long extension to engage it? Bruce.
