Lee Dutton
Hi all, has anyone any experience of Moss ceramic brake pads or advice as to where I can get pads to improve braking on my 4a looked for mintex but all a bit confusing. My current pads are green stuff very old and highly polished. regards Lee
Tom Boyd
Mintex 1144 pads will be suitable for you if you enjoy spirited driving. They work well from cold too. For the sake of £25 i would fit new discs to. Tom
RogerH
Hi Lee, a nice alternative from the Mintex 1144 (well recommended) are the Ferodo FDS167. http://www.burtonpower.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=Ferodo+FDS167+brake+pads I was a Green stuff addict but recently they are not so good. The Ferodo work very well. You will need to open the locating pin holes out slightly. Roger
peejay4A
Hawk HPS are the best I've tried so far. I've tried 1144 and Greenstuff (terrible) and the stock pads from the usual suppliers. http://www.cambridgemotorsport.com/partsxx/hb169f560
stuart
The hawk pads are expensive but are very good, failing that check web and autojumbles for original asbestos pads as they are definitely the best option and will make you discs last longer too. Also you definitely need to change your discs too if you have been using green stuff pads Stuart.

RogerH
Hi Lee, my vented discs (ex-greenstuff pads) have worked OK with the Ferodo pads. Roger

monty
I tried to go the Mintex 1144 route along with new discs but found the pads squealed badly. Despite trying everything the noise continued so I resorted to Mintex 1109 & they have proved to be fine, no squealing & as good as 1144 in performance.

Lee Dutton
Thanks guys especially Roger, really helped have ordered new set of pads so fingers crossed, I think bedding them in is very important, but my green stuff pads always seemed to be highly polished not sure why. Lee Dutton
Hi all, Just got a set of NOS pads as Stuart suggested to try out, just a quick question they seem to have a thin film of black tar looking substance on the back surface, is this anti squeak? should it be cleaned off before fitting? Will try these and report back, fingers crossed Regards Lee

Quicksilver
What is the correct way to bed then in (the new brake pads)? is there a difference between brand and type pads? Marcel
Ben Freer
Marcel It was discussed here - Post #11: http://www.tr-register.co.uk/forums/index.php?/topic/60610-brake-pads/ I haven't had to try the technique yet as my car still has plenty of pad left; so just passing it on!
