speedometer angle drive

Recommended Posts

Greetings Oh Sage Ones,

My angle drive has broken again. This is the fourth. I've changed the speedometer cable, and had the instrument re-furbished. Has anyone got a source of angle drives not made of re-cycled dog poo? Or has anyone gone to an electronic version? This is getting desperate!

Regards,

Austin

Austin,

If you have a repro one there is a little trick to make it work correctly......

Silver solder the gear.... They are only crimped on and last a minimal amount of time......

Hi Austin

Were the angle drives original or repro ones?

Almost certainly repro's. I didn't know originals were still available. I got them from TRshop, London.

Cheers

Mike.

Hi Austin,

although it doesn't show it in the cat I'm sure Moss do two qualities of drive - cheap and OE.

Whatever you get try and operate it by hand, pulling and pushing the input/output shafts.

If it feels fine then it will probably be OK.

If it feels rough/iffy then it will fail quickly.
