MKTR
Hi, Excuse my ignorance but may I ask if the front wing filler section like the one at http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-850457 simply bolts into place or whether it is meant to be welded to either the front vallance or the wing itself. I have taken a wing off to treat rust and my sections were stuck to the wing with rust and sealant. Thank you in anticpation Mark
pfenlon
They just bolt on, no welding required
MKTR
They just bolt on, no welding required That is good news - though I have seen this thread and wonder.http://www.tr-register.co.uk/forums/index.php?/topic/43135-front-wing-filler-panels/
harrytr5
All mine are welded on and I believe they are from factory.Stuart will be along soon to correct either of us. Regards Harry.
Tom Boyd
Welded to the outer wing. Tom
TR 2100
Welded to the outer wing. Tom Yes. I think the earlier response advising bolt-on was due to misreading the question which refers to the fuller piece, not the wing itself. AlanR
MKTR
OK so it looks like these should have been welded on before - but now that my wings are fully painted would it be a great loss if these parts were bolted to the front upper valance and simply 'stuck' to the wing panel? Surely there must be a way around this in case someone fits fibreglass wings?
Guest ntc
They was brazed in small locations.
RogerH
I believe Neil is right about the brazing. Quite a few bits were brazed. If your wings are all painted I wouldn't panic. They are infill panels after all and bolted to something. They will not drop off. Roger.
stuart
They were indeed welded on but I have seen loads of cars where they have been either missing or bolted on afterwards, If you use some good sealant like a non setting windscreen sealant then that is OK if you have to fit them afterwards. Its mainly to stop mud coming from the wheels out through the grill. Stuart.
Guest ntc
Funny that as I removed all of them on my 2 fives by reheating the braze both original.
MKTR
Thanks all - sealant or metal glue it is. That is my weekend sorted!
graeme
Yep, I have seen them brazed on too. Graeme
