John Morrison
Think thats the best location for a TR 3A Edwin, - spot on. JOhn.
Rodbr
Hi Edwin, Not sure how long your legs are but you might have trouble with you kneecap hitting the switch where it is! If fitting at this location it would be worth considering fitting LED bulb in whatever switch that you fit so that it distract you so you remember to switch it off. In the UK you must either have an illuminated switch or a repeater light when switched on. This is the part you need. EdwinTiben
Hi Rodbr, I have tested it of course before fitting, i'm 190cm and i have enough clearance. Will look out for the switch !
ianc
Likely that Stafford Vehicle Components (SVC) can supply the type of switch you want, with small bulb inside the body. Many of the cars in the 1950s & 1960s had such - I have one in 4VC which must have been fitted in 1962. Ian Cornish
Fireman049
If anyone would like to see how I fitted two reversing lights to my 3A then please PM me your eMail address. I used two sidelight lamps. Tom.
Guest
Edwin, why did you put it on on the LH bumperette? Afaik are reversing lights positioned on the RHS of cars in Holland (LHS for foglights) Menno
EdwinTiben
HI Menno, Got my inspiration from a '60s picture of a tr2 during a rally and liked the looks, no science in the side..
Ian Vincent
I put mine on the Rh bumper of a RH drive car. That way it can be aimed to give a throw off light across the back of the vehicle. It seemed logical to me at the time. Rgds Ian
Rodbr
I also mounted mine on the right even though my car is LHD. I have mounted it quite high so the body does not mask either rear lights or indicator. It gives a wide spread of light behind the car from the maximum width. http://s223.photobucket.com/user/Rodbr/media/DSCF0892.jpg.html
setron
FWIW this bumper bracket that's off my early tr I'm restoring has an extra bracket for the reversing light. It looks properly made and can give an adjustable height. My car came with a lot of extras, maybe a factory bracket? Anybody else have one like this? Cheers Shane. Kutscher
Hey Ian, Another solution.
BrianC
Shane's extra bracket looks like it's cleverly home-made from the bottom half of a spare bracket.
