Andrew Smith
Following on from Chris's post on 5 Nov telling of why his 1960 TR3A is nicknamed "Grommitt", and Kwikfrog naming his newly acquired TR2 "Disprin", I wondered what other interesting TR nicknames are out there. My 1958 TR3A is called "Madonna", for two very obvious reasons! :: What's yours called?

clive
My Tr2 is called "Eva Jane" It's my mothers name, and it was the money I inherited off her that made it possible to buy the tr2. The money I made selling a flat in Essex has made it possible to refurbish her. If I could have used that money to buy my mam (or mom as they say down south) back I wouldn't have a TR. At least my dad expperienced a couple of drives in the TR before he passed away. He prefered her on aero screens than with the windscreen. So, Eva Jane. My TR2, 305 CMG. chalky
Mine hasn't got a name yet. But it needs one, believe me! For three years it has fought and resisted every attempt to restore it and bring it back to a decent running car. I am trying to think of a name that encapsulates it's stubborness. I thought of the 'shrew' from shakespears play. but maybe one of you out there have a better suggestion, (no swearwords please, I have already thought and used them all). This has to be a name that can be used in public. I thought that the end of my restoration was nigh, but having fired up the engine in order to tune up the carbs, I discovered that one cylinder is oiling up. so the heads coming off today, (Sunday), for examination. Chalky --------------- 1959 TR3a TS61652 almost finished !!
Don Elliott
My TR3A had no name from 1958 to 1967. When I stored it from 1972 to 1987, it was named Rusty. (Full of holes and a basket case). Since the restoration from 1987 to 1990, it's name is "TRusty". It really has been with over 82,000 miles since 1990. Kiwifrog
We have not named the TR4 yet but I am leaning toward "Patch" or " Mad Max" due to the amount of welding done so far
grommitt
Andrew, would 'nt Jane Mansfield or Diana Dors be a more appropriate name Hi Jean Do you remember Madonna's video where she wore two cones? I rest my case..... Cheers Andrew Hi Andrew Do you know whether Maddona's apparel was also a Triumph product? All my cars tend to have names. Grommitt is unusual insofar as the name has no connection with the registration number. Other cars that I have owned are:- Grandad (GDD), Roo (RU), Piglet (PGT), Cybil (CYB). My son had a Beetle with registration TYT  That's enough for now Chris
Andrew Smith
All my cars tend to have names............My son had a Beetle with registration TYT Aha! Back to Madonna again I see Chris. :: Not sure if her apparel was made by Triumph (Bras of course), but it was certainly a "triumph"
unclepete
having the original air filters, would it be P.C. to call mine 'Aretha'
Guest chris jameson
My 3a is called `Snapper'..... It seems to sit there with a defiant, slightly aggressive stance, accentuated by that big wide 3a grille.... (My wife however, still calls it the `Noddy car') Cheers, Chris 1960 TR3A TS 78655
