trfella
Here's the best idea, and very 'of the time' the TR was made. How about... ... an asbestos dash! Get the old grinder on it and give it a good ol' polish Got to be a winner eh?

Alec Pringle
Looks like it belongs in a boy-racer MG ZR, or maybe a little Peugeot . . . satin bling rather than shiny bling. One stage less tasteful than pink and fluffy . . . Cheers, Alec

The more satin, shiny, pink, fluffy, crappy p+sh that people buy the more reluctant dealers are to actually get the original stuff remade. Come on you chaps out there if you want bling open your shirt and get a gold medallion on a long chain and swing it, please dont knacker up blinkin good TR's...a TR should not look like its ram raided a Halfords store and took 20 mins to get out again. Ask your TR dealer for the proper parts!!! Now where did I put my pink and fluffy brush.........????? Del Boy (ok Alan then)

Alec Pringle
Hi Alan, at the risk of lowering the tone . . . . back in the 70s a motor sport personality of the day had a Ferrari which was entirely trimmed in black latex - just one of the many reasons we called him Paddy the Perve. I had the misfortune to have to drive it once from Brands to a nearby hostelry, at the end of a very hot day. The man was a masochist for sure, and he had a medallion that redefined the concept of overkill - Tamara Press could have used it as a lightweight discus . . . To the best of my knowledge, we've never had anyone quite that bent in the TR fraternity ! Cheers, Alec Edited September 18, 2008 by Alec Pringle
Jersey Royal
Hi All, Thanks one and all for those ideas. I think i will forgo the pink fluffy stuffy stuff and dice. Had thought of shiny black perspex with digital black gauges, but no Some good ideas though, metalwork to the dash would be beyond my capabilities, i would mess it up. I am going to re veneer the dash in straight walnut and see what it comes out like, should come out ok, it is a spare so i have nothing to lose Tar Muchly Guy
john.r.davies
For some REAL machine turning, see the Spyker: http://watchismo.blogspot.com/2008_03_02_archive.html The whole affect is more than unfortunate. It combines camp and bordello, but then those industries do usually have more money than taste. John
PJM
The PO had his/their names embossed on the glove compartment door ?? It was the name of the compay I bought th car from, they work on triumphs MG's etc and were using this shot to promote their name. It was removed before sale!
Tom Fremont
For some REAL machine turning http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp84/im...15L9-6-8027.jpg A tad trickier on a compound-curved surface 11,000 spots not including the miniature ones on the gutters and front lip
Guest ntc
Hi All, I have a spare wooden dash, the veneer doesnt match on the glove box door and is a bit of a mess, really could do re veering........ But my existing dash is fine, so i was thinking of doing something radical to it, as an experiment First thought , cover it in leather ethier black or red or ally. Has anybody seen anything other than the standard wood finish? Any ideas. Regards Guy Just found this Guy
Jersey Royal
Just found this Guy Hi Neil, Interesting photo, shame its not bigger, where did you find that? I had a go at reveneering my spare dash, after lots of work applying veneer and varnishing, i decided i didnt like the veneer i had applied, so stripped it all off. So that project is smouldering on the back burner , till i get inlets etc back on Well Spotted Cheers Guy
88V8
Interesting photo, shame its not bigger, where did you find that? cp25616
Yes, someone has a jolly good memory, to recall this thread Here's the rest of the car Interesting is not the correct word I would have used ! I know we all have to have our own interpretations of a theme but oh dear me ! The dash combined with the plain alloy h-section support is in my eyes...nope, lost for words!!! At least the original dash was worth looking at and I'm not talking about some burr elmer fudd type thing that the specialists believe everyone wants, so only supply them and dont like it when you tell them they look shi+e. Please tell me that this alloy concoction was initiated by a member of the TR Yoof...no please...really. Victor (aka Alan)
Jersey Royal
Alan or should i say Victor M, I love it, he should of let H section in black though With a few other modifications, especialy the size of the turning needs to be much much smaller, it could be spot on. Regards Guy Dear Jersey Royal Whilst on another car club web site I saw a site for Carbon fibre effect sheeting - this could be cut to suit your dashboard. "DecalFX.com" It may give you another option? Kr John
Steves_TR6
Hi All I'm contemplating a dash refurb, with associated instrument cleanup and wiper overhaul, and this thread has been very 'entertaining'! Probably going for a sand of my original Teak dash, i do like a bit of teak....., and if this doesn't work out a replacement teak dash. Where's the best place for buying a replacement dash that's of good quality and actually fits?? steve
