JW590 Posted November 13, 2017 Report Share Posted November 13, 2017 (edited) I have recently bought a one owner 1975 TR6 in mimosa yellow. It came complete with hardtop and tonneau cover. From the lack of colour fade the hardtop has rarely been used, but due to age and the fact it has been in a garage for many many years it will need some work on it. Has anybody any idea how much one of these is worth as it is something I will never use and the funds raised will go towards restoration work on the car. Thank you John. All the usual suppliers seem only to supply a 'generic' material. I have 2 old ones with the 'basket weave' pattern material, that I plan (hope) to make into 1 good one. I have not been able to find matchable cream coloured basketweave material anywhere, except a site in (from memory) Italy, wher it is used for restos of Alfas and such, but a request to purchase 2 metres of material yielded no joy....... Hi John, Have you tried Segal Motor Trimmings? They supply a good range of automotive interior materials! I know that they can supply black basket weave. Bruce. Also my hardtop had these fitted at some point although last work done on it removed them. The pop rivet tails and round foam pieces, to keep tails off the body, are still there.There are no holes through the rear shelf covering so clearly removed. There are no parts in the BL parts catalogue to suggest poppers were originally fitted to the hardtop rear shelf. The fitting instructions part # 575646 have a parts list included but I know how to scan docs but not how to attach to a thread! if someone tells me how I will have a go to do it. Anybody any experience of this? I've just used Jon Skinner's 'Union Cloth' hardtop lining kit. It's not original at all, but I think looks very nice. For context I think the original looks rather cheap and nasty. Originally there was a millboard surround about the rear deck, with more of the white vinyl stuff on it. The is not part of Jon's kit so I made up my own with millboard and will cover it with 'barely beige' vinyl to match the headlining in colour. I'm aiming to do this over the Christmas break so will post up some pics the its done. Restoring a hardtop is about 1000% more difficult than I thought it would be. :-( Quote Link to post Share on other sites

I would like to know the type and length of the front inner-seal that sits on the glued head liner front edge (item 24 in the Moss catalogue), part no 626811. See link below: https://www.moss-europe.co.uk/hardtop-tr6-1968-76.html My old seal was a U-type seal with cloth on it, not sure if this is correct. I ordered a new seal from a local specialist, but was supplied a different type, which looked more the type that sits around the door windows rear and top end. The second seal I'm missing is below the rear deck. It is not mentioned anywhere, but my hard top had the same U-type seal. Waldi Posted April 1, 2022 Report Share Posted April 1, 2022 Thank you Chris and Peter, it now is clear to me I was given the wrong front seal (like for the side glas to hard top). The front seal is just a U-shaped furflex finisher. Chris, I also had a piece of this U-furflex finisher on the rear inner edge where the hard top goes over the rear inner trim panel, but that was probably later added. I will copy my old seals. For the record: The old horizontal leg measures 60,5 cm (including the 45 degree cut). The old vertical leg measures 32,8 cm (including the 45 degree cut AND the overlenght that extends downwards. This overlenght (flap) measures 5,5 cm. I do not recall then being available in anything other than black, same as the header rail fuzzy felt edging.
