Friend of mine with an ESV plate TR2 says ESV registrations were unallocated age related Scottish numbers that were dished out in the 80’s if you couldn’t prove original Reg number. How accurate this is who knows but maybe this applies to this car. Bob
Bill.P.
Absolutely correct....ESV plates were age related previously unissued Scottish plates issued to cars that were imported or had lost their original plates in the mid 1980s....I had a TR2 ESV 336 back then, Bill P. Keith Wigglesworth
The downside of the use of Scottish plates on imports is that the genuine Scottish registered cars like mine are viewed as USA imports. Mine was registered in Banffshire and I once met the bloke who owned it in Scotland and moved down south with it. Keith
Chris Fleet
Never fully understood why some take issue with an import? Ours is, but came back to the uk in 67. It had 67 plates on until the car was restored in the 90’s. Now proudly wears Welsh age related plates
