adriantr4
Hello I'm doing work on my '4 and am having a bit of trouble in getting access to remove the rear wings. I've got the rear bumper, rear lights, trim/hood frame off, but can't easily access the nuts at the top of wings inside the boot. Access is almost zero - what's the technique please? Stepped spanner - no room for socket? Hacksaw from the top? Some of this perhaps moot as the wings have largely rusted at the very top anyhow, hence removal. How did they do this on the body-build line? Special 7/16" narrow socket tool? Thanks, Adrian
RogerH
Hi Adrian, most of the spire screws can be sorted with a 1/4" drive socket on a UJ. The ones at the rear can be reached with a 7/16" combination spanner. Roger
Malbaby
I use a small 7/16 socket with a small steel rod welded on at an angle for the most difficult bolts.

BlueTR3A-5EKT
I find the ratchet ring an invaluable tool for wing removal/refitting https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/395003021149?_trkparms=amclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D1110006%26algo%3DHOMESPLICE.SIM%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20200818143230%26meid%3D795268b6d260424496bea5f09fa31c2d%26pid%3D101224%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D5%26sd%3D126075064369%26itm%3D395003021149%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D4429486%26algv%3DDefaultOrganicWebV9BertRefreshRanker%26brand%3DSnap-on&_trksid=p4429486.c101224.m-

Rob Salisbury
Tedious to use but a good quality open ended 7/16"AF spanner gets to some of the heads, give all of them a good dose of penetrating oil before you start
