oxf2
I've no clue what kind of gearbox this is, but it's in TS5605 at the moment. Car is right hand drive, below is a photo from the driver-side: ... and below is a close up of that number: Below is a photo from the passenger side: Below is a close up of the 18 E 60: ... and below is a close up of the T7 7093: Edited October 15, 2022 by oxf2 rm photo
TomMull
Looks like a TR3 gearbox with OD, maybe later than your car by the TS 77093 serial number in your picture (if that is what it is).
Lebro
It has a dipstick which suggests it is 3 synchro TR2/3 box. Bob
Ralph Whitaker
+1 I have a 3 synchro box to hand which is for the early Bomb starter, it has a short hump on the bellhousing which has been "modified" to take the later inertia starter and an earlier casting number. The one shown by oxf2 (no name!), has a larger hump for the longer starter. Mine is stamped TS37163. Looks like someone lost the "s" stamp, or picked up the 7 by mistake on oxf2s box. iain
Is it thick or thin bell housing flange? Thin for early cars thicker for later. I might be wrong but the number on the cross shaft part of the housing suggests a reconditioned unit? Iain

Just a guess, but could 18E60 mean 18th May 1960 ? The reconditioning date? But why put it there, and not just further along from the serial number? iain
Could be, but I’ve seen a few boxes that have the numbers there. I think it was Pete Cox who told me that was what those numbers were. Iain

oxf2
Many thanks to all contributors! To address a few of your points: 1) The box is indeed three synchro. 2) The bell housing flange has splits around several of its bolt holes, so I presume that means it's a thin flange! When I get some time, I'll try to pin down some more of these finer points. At the moment, life's getting in the way :-O Many thanks to you all, once again!
