alanwcoote
Right gents Engine back in after second rebuild (long story ) and all ready to start. Questions; 1. Do I try to start on my own 2. Do I ask the wife to help me with the starting operation!!!!!!! 3. Do I just look at it for a few months until this frigging lock down is over. Your thoughts Al
foster461
I would go with option 2 and have the Mrs keep an eye on the oil pressure gauge. Stan
Lebro
Crank over with plugs out to start with to get the oil pressure up, then follow the advice on here (you may have to search for it) about initial running to bed in the camshaft & followers (assuming they are new). Ian Vincent
If it's a Newman cam they explicitly advise against the need to run the cam in for 10 minutes at 2000 rpm. Rgds Ian
Hamish
Let the engine builder start it. no arguments later.

Ian Vincent
Unless your wife is a lot more mechanically minded than mine, how will she be able to help with the starting process? Follow Bob’s advice to pump up the oil pressure and give it a go. Rgds Ian
