T Rusty
But will DOT 5.1 eat the paint off where it drips? Paul
ed_h
I haven't tried it, but its chemistry is pretty similar to DOT 3/4. Maybe someone has firsthand experience. Ed

Alec Pringle
If you use the Forum search facility you will find all the discussion and information about brake fluids that you could possibly want. That's what search is there for, we've flogged the subject to death, Be warned, some of the past content was written by contributors with extensive experience of brake hydraulics, whereas an awful lot of views are those of owners with experience of one car only, or in some cases merely opinions based on magazine/internet articles . . . . . Cheers Alec

Brian Johnson
My tupenn'orth is : my mate is a rubber technologist, and he told me in 1992 that silicone brake fluid is fine - it just costs more than the normal stuff (I don't know who DOT is though) so I used it in my Rebuilt 1963 TR4 (with all new brake system) and it has been there ever since. I used aircraft quality flexible brake pipes with non rust pipelines and the brakes are still nice and hard, the clutch works fine and I have only topped up the master cylinder when the pads/shoes have worn. I would use it again with no hesitation.
