Drewmotty
Has anyone got any clever ideas to prevent big bore exhausts from rattling in the crucifix section of the chassis?......its all mighty close!
stuart
Racetorations answer is to actually enlarge the hole through the cruciform at each end. Stuart.
Ben Freer
As Stuart says. It's brutal but mine has the end plates on the cruciform cut away. It gives you more wriggle room. But its still tight.
iain
Use the TR4 mountings for the gearbox end and Neils Rs extra Chassis bracket just where the exhaust crosses the axle line.Perhaps also wrap the section through the cruciform ? Iain
barkerwilliams
Cushion / fix the pipe at both ends of cruciform with a high temperature silicone to hold it in place centrally. Don't seal it in just a supporting pad. Top, bottom and both sides. About £4 a tube Everbuild Black High Temperature Heat Resistant Silicone. Alan Just a thought, as the exhaust will be hot what did you paint that section of the chassis with? Will it be affected by the heat from the exhaust? vivdownunder
Easy enough home fix to add clearance. Crush the exhaust pipe to slightly oval where it passes through each oval crucifix hole.
RUBY131
The South Africans had the answer on my 3a leave off the front box, heat up the pipe and bend it where it goes through the cruciform, then, the car is so noisy you cant hear the rattles. ( new system on order by the way).
RUBY131
Ay down West ever used Pheonix Exhausts Cullumpton for TR3a exhaust sections ?

Drewmotty
A few locals have called in to Phoenix but weren't able to improve on prices from the main suppliers.
stuart
A few locals have called in to Phoenix but weren't able to improve on prices from the main suppliers. Dont know if they will now but they used to do alterations on the car to fit if you took it to them. Stuart.
Mike Graham
I bought some high-temperature silicone sheet and wrapped the pipe in that. Used a screw clamp to hold in place. Here is material I used, but likely may others available: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00385WMK0/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Been on for couple of years and seems to work fine.
