Mike Graham
We plan to visit the northern part of Wales from Canada in early May. Just wondering if any Triumph related events or show might be scheduled around that time in the area. Cheers, Mike
Fireman049
Hi Mike ~ Which part of north Wales are you visiting? Best regards ~ Tom.
Mike Graham
Hi Tom. Plans still forming, but idea is to golf seaside courses. As of now, driving to the north coast of Wales from Manchester and playing along the northern coast before going to Conwy, then to Bull Bay, Holyhead, Nefyn, Pwilheli, Porthmadoc, Royal St. Davids and finally Aberdovey. Two golfer and our wives, who are looking forward to walks and hikes while we golf. Cheers, Mike

Hamish
Perhaps the North Wales group can help. http://www.tr-register.co.uk/group/north-wales
Peter Cobbold
Perhaps the North Wales group can help. http://www.tr-register.co.uk/group/north-wales Personally, no help with golf. Castles, geology, places of interest. Yes. I sent Mike the email for the NWG GL for TR events. AMOC Oulton is around that time, but too early for VSCC Loton. Fireman049
Hi Mike ~ I would suggest a visit to the Royal town of Caernarfon. (Keep away from Bangor ~ it's a dump!!!). Here are two photo's. The RAF flying over Caernarfon showing the ancient Castle where Prince Charles' Investiture as Prince of Wales took place in 1969. Tom.
Mike Graham
Nice pictures Tom. We plan to do some site-seeing and such as well, and Caernarfon will likely been on our list of destinations. Cheers, Mike
Peter Cobbold
Mike, Harlech Castle too. Train up Snowdon. South Stack on Anglesey, also Newborough and Llanddwyn island - excellent beach walk. etc Just ask if you're not familiar with the area. Peter

Fireman049
Hi Mike ~ and others who may wish to visit Ynys Llanddwyn Island ~ Be aware that the island is accessed by a sandbank. The Island will be cut-off from the mainland at high tide. It is a really beautiful place to visit with excellent views over Snowdonia. It has two old lighthouses and a church along with a sacred Cross. Really worth a visit. Tom. Edited February 24, 2017 by Fireman049

Ben Freer
Hi Mike ~ (Keep away from Bangor ~ it's a dump!!!). Tom. Hmm so it hasn't improved since 1981 when I last saw it then Tom. It was still dry on Sundays when I was there as a student! [Hence my migration east to Llafairfechan in year 2 (1980)! ]
Fireman049
Hi Ben ~ I don't blame you for migrating to the much nicer Llanfairfechan. When I was District Fire Commander I had Bangor, Caernarfon, Llanberis and Llanfairfechan fire stations under my command. They were the busiest fire stations in the whole of Gwynedd. The lads at Llanfairfechan were second to none. Tom.
Mike Graham
Wow guys, great suggestions. Thanks so much. Our travelling companions have visited Wales before, but not my wife or me. We are very much looking forward to our visit. I was born in Keith, Scotland, near North Sea coast. Bronze Age Copper Mine near top of GO. Undergound slate mine at Llechwedd, near Blanau Ffestiniog. Lots of narrow guage railways, eg Ffestiniog. Longest is Welsh Highland rly. Portmeirion Welsh is phonetic, its not too difficult to learn how not to mangle the words. Peter
Fireman049
Hi Dave ~ It wouldn't be the first time!! Tom
Fireman049
Mike ~ The Welsh Highland Railway starts off in Caernarfon under the shadow of the castle. It now runs all the way to Porthmadog where you can join the Ffestiniog Railway. It's a really lovely trip to take. Tom.
Guest ntc
Avoid the pubs at night, you will see stickers on the windows English not welcome.
Fireman049
I've never ever seen any unwelcome stickers in any of the pubs in the area. Which pub was this then Neil?? Another popular myth amongst some visitors is that we all speak English in the pubs especially in Caernarfon, until visitors come in when we all start speaking Welsh!! Tom. RogerH
Hi Tom, I'll be up that way in early June with the Windsor Forest Group. I try and arrange to pop in for that cup of tea. I shall start learning my Welsh straight away - A Pint of Brains, please = Peint o Brains, Os gwelwch yn dda Roger
Guest ntc
Tom Caernarfon the local harbour master would tell ALL Engish crews to be back on the boat by 10.30 and he would lock the gate.
