ctc77965o
All, A friend's 1965 Triumph Spitfire suffered a fire this week, damaging the bulkhead, windscreen and dash...electrical short on one of the many unfused circuits on those cars.... The chassis and body of this car are OK, so its worth resurrecting...but how to go about it?? Are Spitfire parts as scarce as TR4 parts? Are there people dealing in second hand spitfire parts?? Would it be easiest to buy a rusty car as a donor?? We need gauges, crash pads, wiring loom, dash hardware, windscreen... Any ideas welcome.. PS: we emptied 3 fire extinguishers on it, but it kept burning...

Spitfire Graveyard in Sheffield can supply almost all of what you need http://spitfiregraveyard.com/ and he is a nice guy to deal with. Have bought a few common TR parts from him in the past, always reasonably priced and good service Just my personal experiences of course You could always ask him about shipping a bulk lot of parts Good luck Ian
RogerH
Hi Dave, or log onto the Club TRiumph forum and ask there. There is a lot of stuff out there and the CT chaps are very good with both parts and info. Roger
john.r.davies
Dave, Ah,so! Malaysia! Not so easy to nip round to anyone's yard. As you have already found, Spitfire expertise resides here also, but if you are taking on a restoration, I'd say join one of the 'small chassis' clubs for detailed knowledge and access to others' pile of parts in the back of the garage. Many small Spitfire parts are common across all that range, and so still fairly easy to find. The Graveyard is most useful, but consider the many other suppliers - Canley Classics and Jigsaw for new parts, and some old, the TSSC Club Shop, their magazine and website for small ads. Geko
Dave, I'm in the UK this week and back to KL on the 13th. Already loaded with TR parts but could bring small items along i.e. wiring loom if it helps. Email or call me on my UK number. Re windscreen there's a workshop in KL (in Cheras if my memory serves) that could remake a new glass by the piece (yes) based on the damaged one if the outer shape is still intact. I need to dig my papers at home to find the address otherwise Google it... Also got TR4/A windshield frames and glass in the US container. I think they are the same as the Spit's. For gauges and dash hardware, first port of call is Song Seng Spare Parts, Jln Sungai Besi 41 https://www.google.be/maps/place/Jalan+Loke+Yew,+55200+Kuala+Lumpur,+Wilayah+Persekutuan+Kuala+Lumpur,+Malaysia/@3.1299082,101.7122283,3a,90y,279.53h,97.93t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s1JverF6HSWSBgRkWFXol4Q!2e0!7i13312!8i6656!4m2!3m1!1s0x31cc361a8927487d:0x9e2f88b43d215da2 or http://miniparts.webs.com/apps/location/ Edited February 7, 2016 by Geko
Don H.
The TRR forum and the international group continue to impress me!
john.r.davies
Re: windscreens. If you can't find "Cheras", this month's (February) "Practical Performance Car" magazine has an article that describes how to cut down a laminated windscreen. It's for one of their 'staff' track day cars, that has been 'cut'n'shut, so needs its old windscreen cut down to fit. A Rolls Royce Silver Shadow! JOhn
ctc77965o
All, Thanks for the suggestions and the graveyard link, we can start to explore the costs.. Stef, enjoy London, its too early to select which parts yet...dunno what to do yet... If there's a TR windscreen in the US parts horde then I believe that will fit a spitfire....will it come to Malaysia?? Dave
TR NIALL
TR6 and Early Spitfire Screens are the same, not sure about a TR4. Spitfire Mk4 are different.
jerrytr5
There is also http://www.spitbitz.co.uk/and GB sprtscars (01525 378078) for second hand parts. A few other random contacts: http://www.mickdolphin.co.uk/ or http://www.quillertriumph.co.uk/ plus the usual supects Rimmer & Moss (don't forget Rimmer also keep some s/h stock). Many parts are shared with Herald/Vitesse so it should not be too difficult to locate the bits you need. Jerry
