Steves_TR6
Hi Folks After my 'Quick Dash Refurb' project I need to turn my attention to the underside of the car.... nothing drastic but i want to change all the oils, replace the rear diff mounts( and possible the pinion seal) etc etc ! Reading the various 'car lifting' threads on here I dream of a 4/2 post lift ( in a nice heated garage!) but have neither the space nor the budget, the scissor type lifts look interesting too. However for my needs I've settled on reversing the rear of the TR onto ramps, then lifting the front onto stands to give a decent working height. My Question, which ramps to buy ?! MachineMart etc sell various ramps which look OK, but i'd like a solid recommendation of a pair that are robust enough to do the job, wide enough for 195s, and have a suitable ramp angle for the TR. Thanks in advance ! Steve
PILKIE
All depends on your budget! My mate with a TR4 bought some of these and says it was the best thing he did as he doesnt have space for a 4/2 poster! In fact the blue TR4 in the video,"CFU" is his at home! http://www.cjautos.eu/product_p/cr01.htm You could always buy the manual version to save a few quid! Fireman049
How about these Steve! These are jacked up to a horizontal position and secured with four stays. Tom. Edited February 10, 2014 by Fireman049
Steves_TR6
A couple of 'helpful' suggestions! I like the look of the hydraulic ones!, but am thinking more £50 than £500!
PILKIE
I nearly bought a older manual set I saw at a resto show last year for £50,but I was all spent up! They are out there and do turn up on E-bay! http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_odkw=lift+car+ramp&_osacat=0&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.Xadjustable+car+ramps&_nkw=adjustable+car+ramps&_sacat=0&_from=R40 Edited February 10, 2014 by PILKIE
Eddie Cairns
<pantomime mode on> Oh no they are not!<pantomime mode off> The £50 deal is for a set of lead on ramps to a proper pair of ramps, on their own they are of no use to raise a car! eddie Edited February 10, 2014 by Eddie Cairns
Eddie Cairns
I'm afraid I went the "fool" way, large high extension to existing double garage. Whole thing insulated walls and ceiling. Then a two post ramp. Sheer luxury but economic madness! eddie

Steves_TR6
Thanks for the suggestion Pilkie. Mick and I discussed his ramps, they would suit but I'm a bit broke this month what with the Oil disaster! Don't really need ramps right now, will see what's on offer at stonleigh :-) Steve
