How much mill travel do you have?

You might be able to make this in one piece, much as the original die-tool was made.

This video shows making a semi-circular tube by horizontal milling with a ball shaped end-mill.

This is manual milling with CAD layout. But a bit of "trig" would do it just the same.

You could probably make four in one go.

Hi Al,

very neat. I'm not sure there is a demand for them at present.

I've ordered a 1/8 slitting saw that will speed up that part of the process.

With a jig to help the slitting it should take only a moment.

I've had a thought about the soldering and that can be made tidier so less time taken in cleaning off the excess.

But we are still probably talking 20 minutes+ to make one.

If there is a requirement it can be done.

Part of the problem with the lock is the barrel itself. The platform where the ears of the plunger sit need to be square. Lumiweld may sort it but it may also kill it if not careful.

Slit it right through and put in one bit of brass flat.

Make the flat a bit big to ease alignment requirements and chew off the excess.

This sounds good but you may find slitting a bit slow.

I've a few of these handles and the plungers are mostly OK.

And the barrels.

Its the die-cast caps that tenf to be rough.

Hi

I have a big box of bits for these locks so if you pm me your details I'll send you some 'part P' in the post - most UK RH and ex USA mechanism are worn out, but the other hand is usually good and you can mix the bits.

Regards

Tony
