Brands Hatch Track Day Monday 5 December 2016

Recommended Posts

Now bookable on the web shop or by calling the office. 20 places available
We’ve teamed up with MGs on Track to offer Triumph owners the chance to drive the iconic Brand Hatch Indy Circuit, so that’s Paddock Hill Bend, Hailwood Hill, Druids, Graham Hill Bend, Cooper Straight, Surtees, McLaren, Clark Curve and Brabham Straight. Surely it’s a must?

The date is Monday December 5 and the cost just £125 with an extra £10 for any additional passengers and drivers. You can book via the TR Register website or by calling Jo or Sue in the office.

For your £125 you’ll get 20 minutes of track time each hour from 9.00am through to track close at 4.00pm, with an hour for lunch.

At the time of writing we haven’t yet confirmed helmet hire but there will be an additional charge. At this event you will need to present your driver’s licence.

Brands Hatch is a natural amphitheatre and offers spectators great views of the action from the various vantage points. Spectators are welcome and dogs are allowed outside the circuit in the spectator areas but must be supervised and kept on a lead at all times. Dogs will not be allowed in the paddock area.

The small café in the paddock is open all day (outside seating only, but under a cover) and the Kentagon restaurant on the outside of the circuit is open at lunchtime with a good range of hot food.

Thanks for pointing this out, Kevin!

Im in!

The chance to drive the full BH track comes rarely. I'm surprised that one on the few occasions that it is allowed, since houses were built close by (!) has been allocated to a 'mere' track day!

G P circuit is used more for track days than racing John. Financially better it seems so check with MSV. Private track day companies grab these bookings.

GP track days tend to be May - Jul

I'm booked in for the 5th

Indy can be more challenging than you think as its key to get a rhythm going on such short laps.

Ive done track days on both indy and gp circuits, but on motorbikes.

The indy is very short, and on a superbike its such hard work, no rest anywhere!

But the gp circuit is fantastic i think its sheene curve out the back of the circuit, really cool to fly over the red and white paint fully leant over on a bike.

I'd really like to do the track day on the 5/12, but not sure i can make it and being december the weather could be 'interesting'

Bang on Steve - GP circuit is a dream, a good fast apex on the three big right handers out the back is so nice, yet the much maligned indy has no resting place - and in the cold and wet is great for discovering grip !

Just bought a cheap action cam for the event.

My avatar is my last time there in the WET...

I remember now doing a 'formula first' day at brands hatch back in the 1980s!

Maybe i should book the 5/12 after all

Would love to

Just a bit far from Cheshire for me for a car I'd drive too and from the event.

Sorting the car bit by bit for comp even got the firewall nearly sealed. Battery leads colour coded and connectors covered.

New starter was needed too :-(

Have fun those that can go.

The latest BBC forecast is for a sunny dry but chilly day.

Feel free to drop by and watch if you are in the area, no entrance fee.

I understand dogs are welcome if on a lead in the public areas but not in the paddock.

take care Kev

as the advert says,

"The car in front is a TR,

the car behind that is a TR

It really was a great day, again well done to Kev and the MG organisers.

The track was very tricky, cold and slippery and it was very hard to get any consistency.

I didn't see any poor driving or bad manners. Even those that felt they were slow, I thought drove well in what were tricky conditions. Push any harder and you spin like a yellow spitfire.

Having done 000's of laps of brands in a Formula Ford and a Caterham, I have to say that the TR was far more fun - even if the understeer took a few laps to get used to, after that lots of steering on the throttle !

I just couldn't work out the gearing, felt it was better on o/d 2, 3, 4, but kept making a mess of Druids whilst fiddling between o/d and off.

Very few TR spinners and no lost time in the four sessions we did.

We did just one session after lunch, but the brave boys were looking forward to the dusk and dew when we left !

I have a zillion gigabytes of on-board video - just need to work out how to convert it to something viewable (and obviously remove the sections where I kept lapping Revvy!!!)

ps - Dear Santa - could I have a girly blue TR4 please.
