  1. Dan Brown, one the the track day regulars at Castle Combe and a very decent driver, has had two. In the first Acclaim he fitted a B18C4 (170hp 1.8 DOHC VTEC) engine to it but says "it's far from a bolt in job". He currently has a blue one with a similar engine but smaller capacity (B16) with a giant turbo strapped to it. Here's a link to a video so you can see what it's about: He says he thinks an Acclaim has potential but may struggle with standard power, and the front suspension doesn't give for much confidence!
  2. Would be interesting hear any feedback from their sessions next week. Anyone managed to get into any of these sessions? Keep safe Kev https://news.brandshatch.co.uk/covid-19-and-msv-venues-–-an-important-update.aspx Friday, May 15 2020 In line with the phased guidelines announced earlier this week by the UK Government, we are now taking the first steps to re-opening the MotorSport Vision (MSV) business. Accordingly, circuit activity will resume at all our UK venues (Brands Hatch, Donington Park, Oulton Park, Snetterton, Cadwell Park and Bedford Autodrome) on a gradual basis from next Monday onwards (18 May). Initially this will involve running exclusive and semi-exclusive testing for professional race teams. This will be followed by car and bike trackdays (both MSVT and those run by third-party operators, e.g. Javelin, No Limits etc) and general test days. We intend operating these from Tuesday 26 May onwards*, with measures in place to maintain social distancing in accordance with government guidelines. Details of the new procedures in place, which include online registration and briefing, can be viewed here. This document will be emailed to relevant customers in advance of their event. Our track hire, MSV Trackdays (MSVT) and testing departments will re-open, with reduced numbers working remotely from home, on Monday 18 May. We anticipate a large number of enquiries so please only contact us if you have an urgent query. All bookings can be made online via our MSVT and Testing websites. Credits for test days and MSVT track days due to take place before 26 May will be issued automatically and you will be notified by email once this has been completed. We have a considerable backlog to process so there may be a delay of up to two weeks. *MSVT's first operational date will be Monday 1 June.
  3. As expected Castle Combe Circuit have said: "I'm sure you will not be surprised but it is with regret we have decided to cancel all track activities for May as well and I'm sure you will agree this is the best decision. At present we are reviewing monthly and with recommendation from government guidelines." Jo will be refunding all these who booked in full as soon as she is able to do so safely. Keep safe. If you want a little motorsport amusement, have a go at the Hero table top rally https://heroevents.eu/event-schedule/hero-vtt-championship/?fbclid=IwAR3HPDW4GGEEicSyvOv-UXj-qjcKepGHt1DkHTFijhjqya3VIBltgS5e_5I Kev
  4. Iain, PM me if you want the grid ref. Keep looking, it's there. Otherwise enjoy. By the way if you are using the email instructions there's an error. On the email the string shows a yyY. On the PDF it is correctly shown as yYY. kev
  5. Sorry I've been a bit slow here, but Hero have been running (day 4) a competitive table top rally with the proceeds going to NHS Charities Together. https://heroevents.eu/event-schedule/hero-vtt-championship/?fbclid=IwAR3HPDW4GGEEicSyvOv-UXj-qjcKepGHt1DkHTFijhjqya3VIBltgS5e_5I So if you've ever been tempted to have a go at regularity rallying but were a bit concerned by the navigation, here's a chance to have a go from the comfort of your desk / armchair. It takes about ten minutes each day and is a welcome break from doing whatever you were doing. And it runs for the next five weeks. So come on give it a go. If you get stuck, I'm sure there's plenty of help out there. Keep safe Kev
  6. Surely being out and about in the fresh air and sunshine is better than being cooped up inside? So with good hand hygiene etc why would outdoor activities that aren't geared around being close to one another (eg watching sport) or contact (playing sports like rugby) be stopped? I'd rather go racing / track day etc than shopping. More enjoyable and much safer.
  7. Were you bragging in Alec's Inn with pint in hand? I posted more or less the same article there as well as here. Kev
  8. It's back. Last year we didn't run the mainly Triumph track day at Castle Combe, but the good news is that this year we are. Hurrah! Superb value at just £105, this is the track day to enjoy in your TR. We aim to have 48 Triumphs on the track and hopefully we'll get all models represented from TR2 all the way through to Triumph Acclaim. Additional drivers are just an extra £20 and passengers just £10 more. Spectating is free with full access to the paddock and spectator viewing areas. Everyone going onto the track must wear a crash helmet and have arms and legs covered. We will be able to offer free helmet hire on the day. The noise Limit 100dba measured at 0.5metres from the exhaust pipe at ¾ maximum revs. Sign on will be from 7.30 and noise testing from 8.00 There will be a compulsory driver and passenger briefing from 8.30 by the track manager. The first cars will be on the track at 9.00 and we will run until 5.00 stopping for a one hour lunch break for the marshals around midday. To book simply call the office or book online at https://www.tr-registershop.co.uk/track-day-92-c.asp Here you'll also be able to book one or more of our track days with MGs on Track. These are running at Mallory Park on 21 April, Snetterton 18 May, a return to Castle Combe on 22 June and Blyton Park on 6 July. And if you are not sure I you and your car are ready for a track day, then try our starter experience at North Weald (near Epping just off M11) on 26 June. It's been a miserable wet winter, so now's the time to bring yourself some cheer. Book now. Kev
  9. All just to let you know there are still plenty of places left for the Castle Combe track day on 9 September 2019. There will be some very fast MGs on track on the day and so a good opportunity to practice. Go on, book it. You know you want to. https://www.tr-registershop.co.uk/tr-track-day-at-castle-combe-9-september-2019-10347-p.asp regards kev

Can you PM me with your preferred address and I'll add that to my list. go to the web shop/events/track day to see what's on offer. kev
