marki Posted September 4, 2023 Report Share Posted September 4, 2023 Hi All. After a short break from TR’s ( I won’t go into that ) I’m purchasing a modified 4a. Speaking to the chap that’s selling it he says he only ever fill the oil to halfway up the marks on the dipstick, I’ve got a feeling I’ve heard this before. Is this a done thing and if so why ? Motorsport Mickey Posted September 7, 2023 Report Share Posted September 7, 2023 No the oil midway up between the marks is still practiced these days, even on new build vehicles. Certainly on trucks the advice is as outlined by Chris, I think the variable nature of piston ring sealing allows different burning rates. Mick Richards Quote Link to post Share on other sites
