qim
Is an overrider stay what you use to attach a badge, or a country identity plate to the front or back of the car? I saw one on sale but am not sure if it is what I think it is and need. Camilo
RogerH
Hi Camilo, the stay helps to keep the Overrider supported. #107 http://www.moss-europe.co.uk/shop-by-model/triumph/tr2-4a/exterior/bumpers-number-plates-fittings/bumper-mountings-tr3a.html If you have a problem log onto the Moss web site as it has everything to you need to know. It will take some getting used to. Roger
rhino_mac
The overrider stay is a bar that attaches from the bodywork through the grill to one of the overriders on the front bumper. See details here: http://www.leacyclassics.com/606449.html Basically, it stops the overrider wobbling around on the front bumper. Edit: Roger go there first! qim
Hi, thanks both Well,... what I am looking for is a badge holder that you can attach to the rear of thecar (the bumper) and hold an aluminium country ID plate that I have ordered What is that called? Don Elliott
I would believe that an over-rider stay is a support for the front bumperettes on a TR3A where the stay is attached to the inner wing after you install the radiator air deflector and before you install the grille. barkerwilliams
one like this? http://mgaguru.com/mgtech/accessories/pics/badge_bar_rear.jpg 15mm chromed copper pipe bent to shape with ends flattened £14 for two metres. http://www.screwfix.com/p/wednesbury-chrome-pipe-15mm-x-2m/54679 Alan Edited May 24, 2017 by barkerwilliams
qim
15mm chromed copper pipe bent to shape with ends flattened £14 for two metres. Thank you Alan Sounds a good idea but where would I fix it to the rear of a TR3A? Behind one of the overriders?
rhino_mac
Does it need to be on the front or the back. You can buy a badge bar for the front - it attaches between the two overrider stays (possibly why you though this might be the part you needed). Then use these badge bar clips to attach your badge. http://www.woolies-trim.co.uk/p-962-badge-bar-clip.aspx I started a thread about badge bars a while ago and it had quite a bit of information in it. http://www.tr-register.co.uk/forums/index.php?/topic/60414-badge-bars-and-badges/ The badge bars shown in the image above on the rear of the car are drilled into the rear bumper. That's not possible on the TR3 really as it doesn't have a traditional rear bumper - more like two overriders. That and you wreck an expensive bumper if you drill holes in it. qim
Hi rhino_mac It is for the rear to exhibit a period country ID plate. I guess I will have to make some sort of bracket or get soemthing like this http://www.automobiliaforsale.co.uk/product-details.asp?Cat=CarBadges&ProdId=1337 Edited May 24, 2017 by qim
rhino_mac
That link you have put up looks like as good a solution as any given the TR3's rear bumpers. I'd go with that myself.
