qim
I read the article http://www.bertram-hill.com/classic-car-security.htmland am interested in a simple paging system that will alert me to any invasion of the car. The idea of the aerial is not welcome and I have been looking, to no avail, for something that is only a movement sensor. All other facilities are not needed. Any ideas? barkerwilliams
Hi, Do you mean movement as in GPS, or movement as in vibration / trembler? If you mean vibration then https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Universal-Car-Alarm-vibration-alarm-Keyless-Entry-Security-System-For-Remote/32637687089.html?spm=2114.01010208.3.2.w984pQ&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_4_10065_10130_10068_433_434_10136_10137_10138_10060_10062_10056_10140_10055_10054_10059_10099_10103_10102_10096_10052_10053_10050_10107_10051_10106_10084_10083_10119_10080_10082_10081_10110_10111_10112_10113_10114_130_10078_10079_10073_10070_10122_10123_10120_10126_10124-10120,searchweb201603_5,afswitch_1_afChannel,ppcSwitch_3,single_sort_0_default&btsid=84e29f4a-507b-46a3-a569-e3ccac307df7&algo_expid=5e9c6725-bf7f-4101-84d1-6233ca016259-0&algo_pvid=5e9c6725-bf7f-4101-84d1-6233ca016259seems to be the sort of thing with an alarm. Or did you want a vibration that will sent you a text message? If you want a GPS type with a Text message then the TR shop sells those. Alan
qim
The article mentions a pager that is activated if someone opens a door, sits in the car, bumps into it, etc. Then If I am quietly sipping a drink 100 meters away I will be alerted by the pager, just as it says in the article. What i don't like is the position of the antenna and thought that maybe something simpler and raising the alarm via, say, a mobile. PS - sorry, I did not look at the link you sent properly. That might do, bit waht is the make of it? And does it need an external antenna? The problem is that it does not seem to send any kind of message/alert to a pager or mobile Edited March 15, 2017 by qim
jean
Like the way the company is trading.... In their service they state : No retail box .. lower price ... send as a gift, so no custom duties...
peejay4A
I use a product from this company. They don't seem to list it any more though. It was considerably cheaper than those presently listed. https://www.rewiresecurity.co.uk/gps-tracker-car-tracking-devices/vehicle-car-gps-tracking-devices&filter=
Paul Down
Qim, The trackers described in www.bertram-hill.com do have movement sensors, they can be programmed to several levels of sensitivity. They will ring your mobile if the car is moved. You do of course have to be in the mobile phone service area to receive a signal. As Pete above says Rewire Security are a decent firm to deal with and supply an English operation manual. Perhaps you would not need this if you understand Chinglish! qim
Hi Paul Yes, I understand that, but my problem with that one is that I do not want to place the antenna in the place shown in the article as it does not look good. I know you can cover it with the tonneau, but still...
Paul Down
Qim, The personal type of tracker: https://www.rewiresecurity.co.uk/102-nano-gps-tracking-device-hard-wired-kit Does not need an aerial but would need to be positioned carefully. Rewire also sell a vehicle power supply for it. It works very well and lasts a few days on its internal battery, dependant on the features selected.
qim
Thanks Paul. but this Rewire is a tracker rather than a movement sensor that will alert via SMS/mobile phone.
peejay4A
My RewireGPS tracker has an accelerometer shock sensor that wakes it up and sends a text message with its current location. It can also be interrogated using gprs. It's the 102 nano as described above and if you read the text to the end you will see that it has a movement sensor. DaveN
I have the rewire security 303 fleet. Works very well. No antenna its all self contained. Hidden in the car and hard wired it also has its own backup battery. It sends a text if the car is disturbed and its tacked on the web. Currently the car is locked in the garage and its telling me it has 9 satellites 'in view' . Qim PM sent. Edited March 16, 2017 by daven
RogerH
Currently the car is locked in the garage and its telling me it has 9 satellites 'in view' . Qim PM sent. Hi Dave, that is one heck of a garage. I can hardly get my car in the garage never mind all those satellites. Roger

qim
Hi peejay Sorry to go on.. but... the only thing I see about movement is at the vert bottom where it says that "Set your tracker to alert you whenever a vehicle starts moving or stops." It seems to be a tracker if the vehicle is moved, rather than if someone sits in it on bumps into it. The car is reasonably protected against someone driving it away. I also think that these trackers are in itself a way of telling thieves where the car is parked, if in a garage. Besides, a real pro will probably hoist into a van and the GPS will no longer work But I'm going to get it, and hopefully disable everything except a shock sensor if it is possible Edited March 17, 2017 by qim
peejay4A
I'll say it one more time, slightly differently. If you open and close a door the device detects the vibration and sends an alert. I leave mine in deep sleep to save battery life so it's not detectable but it will wake up with such a shock.
qim
peejay. Sorry. I believe you and will go ahead and buy it. Thank you for your help.
