Winnie The Pooh
Hi, it will soon be time to change all tyres on my '56 TR3. What is the best choice to keep the steering as light as possible and the legal tyre rating (SR?) for the theoretical top speed of the car. I won't say money no object, but I would rather spend what it needs to get a decent steering action, good ride and decent rubber. Thanks for your advice, cheers, Keith
Hamish
Money no object michelin XAS Otherwise vredestien sprint classic In appropriate size. H
Tom Boyd
Michelin XAS 165-
Richardtr3a
I had new Vredenstein last summer and they transformed the car. Vibration at 60 mph vanished and the steering was much more secure and predictable. The old tyres were well past their use by date. The tyres were delivered and fitted by my local tyre man, who has the correct balancing tools, here in east Sussex. Good price as well. Richard & H.

Don H.
Money no object michelin XAS Otherwise vredestien sprint classic In appropriate size. H +1 I'm a traditionalist, and like the look of classic-style tyres. I have Vredestien Sprint Classic 165/80-15 on the road (and 155/80-15 as the spare). I've been perfectly happy with them. I might go Michelin the next time -- always had good results from Michelin, and they're on the two daily drivers -- but the Vredestein's have a lot of life left. Winnie The Pooh
Many thanks to you all for the advice, I will check out costs on the Michelin XAS, and if they are way too expensive look at the Vredestien Sprint Classic. Much appreciated, all the best, Keith
Rod1883
I have the Vredestein Sprint classics 155 - 15 on the TR2 and they look and feel good. I also have them on the Stag, again look right and feel good. I have a concern though in that one of the tyres on the Stag developed an issue within weeks of being fitted - Vredestein didn't want to know or help at all.
