Graham
Hi Does anybody have any experience of these http://www.moss-europe.co.uk/shop-by-model/triumph/tr2-4a/electrical-system/ignition-system/csi-ignition-distributors.htmlor http://www.moss-europe.co.uk/shop-by-model/triumph/tr5-6/electrical-system/ignition-system/csi-ignition-distributors-63cb5c.html I like the idea that not only do you get rid of the points, but you can specify with an immobiliser as well, which I am assuming, as the immobiliser is integrated with the distributor, makes it more troublesome for any 'ner do well' to by pass. Also I note in the sales blurb they say they are indistinguishable from the original item, so assuming (again) that they have a tacho drive ? Can any body enlighten me ATB Graham
oldtuckunder
My expreience with immobilisers it that they work, and are always at their most effective just when you don't want them to be! Alan
RogerH
Hi Graham, modern technology is good for NASA and such like but keep it simple on the the TR. Roger
graeme
Graham, These CSI units require an electronic tach so do not have a mech tach drive. Cheers Graeme
Alec Pringle
Hi Graham, if you want a distributor with electronic ignition, then I'd suggest asking Martin Jay, Distributor Doctor, to build you a proper one . . . . TR6 OE Lucas dissie with electronic ignition. Cheers Alec
TriumphV8
CSI looks like a copy of the 123. With the immobilizer the things become quite expensive. I used for all my cars the BOSCH RF2000 alarmsystem with 3-point immobilizer. It also provides a remote control and a central locking device. I always found its a pain to go down on the knees to lock our doors. As BOSCH is well known for quality of this technical device that was also used ex works on several German cars you can be sure its both reliable and a real comfortable solution. Unfortunately they stopped making these items but some are left on the market. Also the BOSCH IR-US is well suitable! I would prefer a 123 that benefits from the good exchange rate to GBP and has prooven its reliability and add a separat immobilizer from a quality company to keep car reliable and think about the central locking device. oldtuckunder
and think about the central locking device. Wow you lock a convertible?
TriumphV8
Yes we are dealing with thieves here and recently I had a clubmate from the TR Register who broke my locked car. Lots of crazy people here. Unfortunately that was alreasy the second incident with a Register meeting where before somebody has stolen things out of the car.
