Tim D.
So I was just finishing fitting a new starter and got a short. Earthed through the cables to the engine. And guess what. The only one the was knackered was the wickedly expensive choke cable. £70 for a cable. Well peeved. Tim
Jersey Royal
Tim, Sorry to hear that. Know the feeling well. Cheers Guy
RogerH
Hi Tim, it may be possible to disassemble the cable and get it working again. Don;t throw it away - one day you may want it. Roger
Peter Cobbold
The cable that operates the the butterflies is unecessary, you only need the MU enrichment working.
Ade_TR6
+1 on that. Mine has been disconnected for 20 years. Bit of throttle with full enrichment and bingo...
Willem
I ruined my choke cable too, only once Somewhere in this forum there is a description of a method using bicycle brake cables and a soldering gun to repair the dual choke cable. Worked fine for my car.
Denis
Think I'd have kept that Boo Boo quite if I'd done that Tim!
littlejim
Think I'd have kept that Boo Boo quite if I'd done that Tim! Arrh it's a wimpy one. The good ones involve the clutch where you have to keep taking the clutch/gearbox cover on and off and pulling the gearbox up to the engine. very character building at about go #3. Tim D.
Hi I do know it was a rather wimpy one. But was just pissed that a piece of wire could cost so much. Agree that probably could have got away with single choke but order has been placed. Cheers Tim
Tim D.
Grrrrrr again Just fitted the double cable from a well known supplier. Quality is awful. First use and the knob pulled off. The think also doesnt lock very well. Would send it back but need it for lemans. Grrrrr
