RobL
Well spotted; shame about the price. The Italia at TRGB is worse, maybe but £10k worse ? The Italia at Coventry Transport Museum is just lovely and oh, how I would like an Italia. And oh how I wish I could afford one ! Rob
Guest
In this condition an eyewatering asking price, but it can become a really fine car after being restored, I think. Menno
stuart
I think thats the one that was pulled out of a container somewhere in the US a couple of years ago having been badly stored for a lot of years. Stuart.
Paul Harvey
Italia #27 I believe. It actually has quite a reasonable number of unobtanium original bespoke Italia parts and there are worse places to start an Italia restoration. There are also better places.......... brydon
Hi With a little time, effort and a shed full of money it could look like the one that turned up @ Triumphest earlier this month.
Paul Harvey
The dark blue Italia is #301 recently restored by Justin Jurgens in California
TR 2100
If the rust is just surface rust and it has at least most of the unobtanium parts, then by Italia standards, maybe not a bargain but maybe a go-er. Question really is - how much rot, as against surface rust - is there. AlanR
Paul Harvey
Judging by the chassis pic it is safe to assume the complete lower 12" of bodywork will need replacing. A new chassis is likely and it would tempting to fit a TR4 one with rack and pinion which is a straightforward swap.
Malocomotion
oh no ! please ! an Italia is a TR3 not a 4 ! originality first !
Paul Harvey
Complete pictures of the car at: http://www.forzamotorsports.com/1960triumphitalia2000/default.htm thanks to Helen Gill for the link and details x.
Paul Harvey
Patrick, Originality first indeed and this car does have the potential to be a concours winner with enough time and cash. Despite the initial impressions the car is very complete, with original glass, dashboard, interior, seats, trim, engine etc. The steel bodies always require substantial work and must be done by a competent sheet metal worker from scratch as no replacement panels are available but at least here the shell is intact and appears reasonably straight apart from the passenger A post area. My comment about chassis was prompted by the gorgeous dark blue Italia #301 posted by Brydon which was restored very recently as a 'good driving car' by British Sports Cars in San Luis Obispo. This already had a TR4 chassis which they sorted and together with overdrive, wider track on the front, modern tyres and an uprated engine he says it really does deliver on the original promise of a long legged GT. You 'pays your money...' as they say and it will be interesting over time to see how Italias fare in the 'originality versus practicality' stakes. Either way it is great to see them becoming appreciated and for the values to make them worth saving from the scrap heap or parts bin. I will have a bet now this one is saved to add to the list of Itlalias driving in the way the factory intended.
Malocomotion
Sorry Paul ! but i think the only real improvement for a 4 banger is .... to buy a S2000 !
tr graham
yes a lot of good bits there but no bumpers and no number plate lamp, 5k to start with if you can find them, and yes paul you are probably correct the bottom 12" will need replacing ,and it will all need to be hand made,if anybody is considering it .mine is fully stripped at present happy to show what will be involved graham

RogerH
Hi Paul, it would appear that the 'post' numbers have been stuck from at least yesterday. Something odd happening. Roger
Paul Harvey
They're not stuck. They just all rise together. And at this rate I'll get to 1000 sooner than expected.
Paul Harvey
To be clear. They all rise together after the post after the post but some get left behind. Probably. Subject to contract. E&OE. A bit like life really. Most things are up to speed. But not everything, no matter how hard we try.
Paul Harvey
No they don't. They go up in sequence on a thread, and all get updated if you go to another thread. Almost certainly right now. I mean wrong but true. Definitely.
