BryanD
I'd like to use my Ezi-bleed kit when I do a brake overhaul on my 6 shortly. Its a brilliant way of changing fluid in next to no time and its excellent at getting any air out too. Unfortunately Gunsons don't supply a suitable cap for the brake master cylinder... I'm sure it would be possible to adapt a standard cap, but I don't want to start hacking mine about. Has anyone got an old one they might be prepared to let me have? Its the very large plastic type - about 95mm in diameter. Many thanks
Guest ron
Bryan TRGB gave me a rough one for the same purpose several years ago, worth phoning around if nobody comes up with one. Ron
Chris Tyrrell TR6
Hi Bryan. I'm pretty sure I've still got my old master cylinder in the garage somewhere. I'll have a look tonight and if it's there, the cap's yours. Chris.

Steves_TR6
Much like BryanD I'd like to Ezi-bleed my brakes, so need a spare MC cap to 'modify' to suit. Des anyone have an old cap they could spare? Steve
Guest ntc
Just leave the pedal under pressure overnight
Andrew Smith
Just leave the pedal under pressure overnight Yep................. Cheers Andrew
Steves_TR6
Thanks Neil and Andrew. I actually did that last night, but its too wet today to see if it worked! Steve
peejay4A
That pedal under pressure trick obviously works, judging from people's experience, but I'm struggling to understand why.
Guest ntc
Air will rise to the top
peejay4A
Right, I get that. Does the position of the master cylinder valve then allow air to escape via the reservoir?
Guest ntc
The tipping valve will remain open and yes air will be vented by the cap, however it will not work with a leak in the system
peejay4A
Thanks Neil, and will this trick work on the 4/4A setup.
stuart
Yes Works on any brake system. Stuart.
Steves_TR6
This definitely does help, my brakes were significantly better after two nights wedged on with a broken broom :-)
Peter Cobbold
My guess is the sustained pressure in the system speeds up gas dissolving in the brake fluid and so dispersing any air bubbles. Once the air bubbles in the brake fluid have dissolved they wont easily reform in the cold parts of the system.
peejay4A
Oh bum. I don't have a broken broom but I have an idea... (null)
Richard Stamp
I am also looking for brake master cyl cap for same reason if you have one please give me a call Many thanks Richard
Casar66
Unfortunately I have no old cap to spend, but a question to the "pedal under pressure-trick": sometimes when I apply the break the sound is a bit "pumpy", similar if I would push an air bellow (don´t know how to describe it better). But not always, sometimes it after few minutes of driving. Could this be the air in the system and the pedal-under-pressure-trick would cure it?

Casar66
I have that since 14 years. It did not become worse over the time. So nothing to do for me?
